Is my maths a bit off, or was Richard Mercer's first wife a lot younger than him?
Also, it's interesting that a 'Clogger' could be wealthy enough to be commemorated by such a large memorial.
I'm having a mathematical brain freeze at the moment, so I couldn't tell you to be honest. 🤔 Yes, good point about the expensive monument. Maybe he was the best if not the only clogger in town, making clogs for the wealthy of the day, who all chipped in to buy the monument, but then I doubt if wealthy folk wore working men's/womens clogs.🤔 Only two of the four sides of the monument are inscribed. The other inscription is below.
