Good luck with whatever you decide to do next @All uphill

I’m going to continue with the ‘Saints’ – and hope to get a ‘C’ within the next couple of weeks (fingers crossed). I’m also going to continue with my ‘la Ville’ series in the ABC of Place-names. I hope to finish that this year then I’ll start a new series of place-names beginning with ‘Ker’ – I’ve found 20 so far (probably of no interest to anyone in the UK outside of Cornwall).

What I’ve found with my French versions of these ABC challenges is that I need 12 months to prepare, 2 years to execute and I need 5 byes (typically ‘I’, ‘K’, ‘W’, ‘X’ and ‘Y’).

I’m also keen to start an ABC of Rivers – preferably before I die or become so incapable mentally that I’ll have forgotten how to get onto a bike. I think I may just start a thread for this the next time I cross the l’Arz and le Blavet – and see whether it’s got any wider appeal or if it’s simply the whim of an aging bearded gentleman in France.

I’ve also been musing over the possibility of place-names which contain Christian names – such as la Ville David or le Moulin Simon. Not sure though if it isn’t a bit too close to the ABC of Saints. By the way, is it still correct to say ‘Christian name’ – or is there a more PC-version available?

Anyway, keep us all posted with your next project and have fun in West Wales.

Thanks @bluenotebob , good luck with your travels from this aging bearded gentleman.

You are welcome to refer to my Christian name, although you run the risk of hearing about why I no longer apply the word Christian to myself.

It sounds as though you are much more planned and organised than me; I start these challenges at A and then take it one letter at a time. I'm still waiting to get my 'O' in the Saints; I was close to St Olaves a few weeks ago but rain and the prospect of a busy road put me off.

My idea for the next challenge is to count from one to fifty. House numbers not allowed, so I'd start at Bar One, then a sign for Two Rivers and so on.

Best wishes!

Anything which requires names inputting nowadays usually refers to forename(s).
