I never bend down to pick things like socks off the ground. Being blessed with ape-like feet i can grip it with my toes and simpley throw it up to myself.

Yet another bedroom skill that make the ladies laugh.

I survived Hurricane Wilma

"Hurricane Wilma was the most intense tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Atlantic basin, and was the most intense tropical cyclone recorded in the western hemisphere until Hurricane Patricia in 2015. Part of the record-breaking 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, which included three of the six most intense Atlantic hurricanes ever (along with #4 Rita and #6 Katrina*), Wilma was the twenty-second storm, thirteenth hurricane, sixth major hurricane, fourth Category 5 hurricane, and second-most destructive hurricane of the 2005 season."

*- Everyone remembers Katrina (the one that hit New Orleans in the same year) but Wilma was bigger - so bad that the name has been officially retired.

One lunchtime in August 1987 I walked through Hungerford High Street puzzled by the lack of traffic and pedestrians, and wondering what the sounds like rifle shots were; this was the day 16 people were shot and killed
by a local.

August 1987 was not a good month for massacres. I also just missed one, but I passed through the location about 2 hours before so not anywhere near hearing shots.

Sadly it wasn't Melbourne's only massacre in 1987.

A colleague and I once had a terrific fight with a couple of car thieves we'd caught red handed. After quite an epic struggle in which we were both punched, clawed and scratched, and I had to discourage one of them to stop biting the crotch of my trousers, we finally overpowered them. Just as I was radioing for assistance to transport them to the station a voice behind me asked whether we needed any help. I turned to find a white estate car containing four Salvation Army officers in full uniform had pulled up having seen us struggling.

He must have either been in love with a Vietnamese lady or was a bit mad. If he'd done one tour if 'nam he would not have needed to go again.

He certainly was very effected once he came back for good. He was an English volunteer. Certainly a career soldier. But that war was certainly good at cutting careers short. I dont think he was ever able to work again once he returned.

And did you, 'take full advantage,' of the mistake?

Me, in a club full of sprightly young fillies** ....it would be difficult imagining not doing so

** yes, I know it's low level misogynism but cut me some slack as I'm trying to stay I character

Actually the truth is rather more prosaic. I just signed a few beermats "Best wishes Bruce xx" and then left with my "entourage" (actually a supplier of construction equipment who were taking me out for the night)
