That is just lazy on their part, and incorrect. If it has no insurance, then it is illegal for it to be parked on the road, not just for it to be driven.

I'm absolutely fuming! I approached the zebra crossing at 5pm and that bloody car was there again! I drove past at 6.30pm and yes, still there! I've just checked askMID.com and guess what!! It's still not insured! Serious question! Do you think the police are ignoring this crime for favours, because that's how it's looking to me! This fellow must know or think that he's 'untouchable'! If he's involved in an accident no doubt it'll come out that he wasn't insured with the police saying stuff like "We are determined to get these dangerous uninsured vehicles off our roads"! That clearly is not the case, as this uninsured vehicle I've reported to them and they've done bugger all about proves beyond any doubt!!

I've even thought about putting those photos on the town's Facebook page saying something like "Car insurance due? Don't bother with it, as you can park on a zebra crossing all day and not only that but be uninsured as well and the police will do FA about it"!!. but then I'd be targeted, so best not to I suppose.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Today near me; blocking the view out onto an A-road, on zig-zags and on the pavement. NU12 LBO in Dewsbury.

Reported to West Yorkshire Police who shrugged and suggested Kirklees Council, who you can't send reports to.

Well done to the people who are taking action to help the authorities identify illegal parking that affects them personally.

I report close passes if they get my adrenalin going, but I am very wary of becoming some kind of crime spotter out looking for infractions that have no effect on me - that way lies obsession and a very negative mindset.

There have been successes locally where cyclists and pedestrians continually report illegal parking that potentially endangers people. A daily visit by a traffic warden to one spot has resulted in a dramatic and lasting improvement in parking behaviour - the word has got out that parking on the cycle lane is chancy .

Outside a pub too, perhaps they (Police) could get a breathalyser job, boost their productivity. ;)

They park on the double yellows across from my flat, to go to the pub around the corner most nights. They (as in lazy gets) come back hours later shouting, banging car doors etc. I bet most are over the limit!

Our estate (I mean the houses where we live - we don;t own a manor house!!!) has a road running through it - only entrance to the whole place

The entrance is a sharp turn of the main road followed - after about 20 m does a sharp right turn
or - leaving the estate - a sharp left turn followed after 20 m by a T-junction onto a main road
the road it 3m wide - so pretty narrow

NATURALLY the people who live there have an ABSOLUTE RIGHT to park outside their house
on both sides
some of them have 2-3 cars
Locals know to approach at a crawl because you will be unsighted and there could be an oncoming car anywhere

WHich causes a major problem on the main road because when I am coming home I slow down far more than the person behind me is expecting
even if I stay left and start slowing down early I still sometime notice the car behind has not realised and had to slam their brakes on

leaving the estate you sometimes have to reverse 20-30 yards up the road to allow other cars to enter the area

I can imagine the fury it the copy/counsel turned up and started giving out tickets!!!!

Not exactly parking on the pavement, but parking illegally in a disabled bay. I was annoyed to say the least this aft' when I couldn't park in the disabled spaces outside Accrington town hall as they were all full. "Mmm, there's a transit van there" I thought as I drove off. When I eventually found somewhere to park I thought I'd walk past the transit van. Yes, as expected it didn't have a blue badge in. This annoyed me, bordering on playing on my mind, till I got home, parked in the disabled bay near me and saw this!

Yes, the 'parking enforcement officer' had/has been round again! Since I phoned Lancs County Council's traffic dept' a month or so ago about illegal parking in the disabled bay the 'traffic warden' makes frequent visits around here. The above car has been parked there since last Saturday! I don't know who's it is, but I hope they enjoy their nice yellow ticket!!

Resident Chris, parked his car in Station Road and said he returned to find an offensive* sticker on his mirror and damage to his vehicle he estimated would cost £1,000 to fix.

(*I think we know what this sticker looked like.)

Police said they were aware of the vandalism as well as the parking issues and had handed out 57 penalty notices to vehicles parked in Station Road.
