And Bristol is cut off from the outside world:

Still, it will take me longer than usual to get home - I need to put my waterproof trousers on.
I went up onto the Costwold hills around Cheltenham on friday evening in my shogun not knowing or expecting anything more than it being very wet. As we ascended, the traffic was backed up for miles on the escarpment with the snow as the 2wd cars and HGVs didn't have any traction for their descent from Cirencester, and the previous rain had washed away the grit.
It was total chaos up there. Even the soft-roaders were getting stuck as they were all running on regular tyres with a road tread patterns (why bother ??)
Its ok saying why bother with 4wd for something which only happens a few days a year - Tell that to the poor sods who were stranded at the top of a hill with small kids in a blizzard overnight because their vehicles weren't suited to the conditions.
The only ones which were making progress were the 'proper' 4x4s
