The Carrera certainly looks good for the price.
I'm getting a Trek Soho DLX through the cycle scheme, don't know yet exactly when I'll get my hands on it but hopefully should be able to post some first observations before too long.

Hi

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm not a fan of Halfords, though it is an amazing price (for a 20" frame - too small for me).

I too like the look of the Bab Boy 3, but alas it doesn't seem to have any rear pannier mounts.

The Pashley's a little too upright - i've got my 2yr old in a child seat every morning!

The Charge's frame resembles a road bike, which is a bit unusual among hybrids, so that's out (esp as i'm buying online).

That leaves the On-one, Trek Soho Deluxe (i like the idea of the belt drive, but would prefer an Alfine hub to a Nexus - read mixed reports about the latter), and the Roadrat (but can't figure out why that much more expensive than the On-one).

I think it might be On-One for me.

cheers

2010 Trek Soho here - the belt drive is an absolute god send - Nexus hub doesn't seem all that different to the Alfine - I have done over 1500 miles in the last 6 months with no problems at all.

2011 model comes with a Carbon fork as opposed to the Aluminium of the 2010 model.

Did you get the On-One?

The current Trek Soho DLX has the Alfine hub. I just took delivery of mine, not had chance to ride it very much yet but it seems like a very nice bike, can't really find any fault with it so far. Remarkably silent thanks to the belt drive, although the front disc is noisy (but I hope that will sort itself out with use?).

Hello friends

The roadrats are really nice. I haven't ridden an Alfine one though. I think it was nearly a thousand quid for the 8 speed Alfine with disc brakes.

And the thanks for the all suggestions.

The Soho DLX only has a Nexus hub but it benefits from the Alfine shifter
