Welcome back perfect Virgo, Think carefully now you have the chance of starting afresh in this country are you sure Hampshire is the right place? Perhaps you should cosider some where a bit more remote? Wales ,Scotland or perhaps Cornwall?
You will find That Purbeck and the New forest lovely as they are will be over run by tourists as soon as the clocks change and basically the whole of London trys to emigrate to some where a bit prettier.

Any where in this country is a lot closer to your children than Canada!

I know that if I had a choice right now I would probably go To Wales or Cornwall. The south and south east are getting heavily over populated!

Good Luck on your return.

DJTG good point about the flocks of tourists, I haven't forgotten them though. I lived in either Hants or Dorset for 50 years so I know those counties like the back of my proverbial hand and can find a path less-travelled. That's not to say I will stay in the area indefinitely but it will be my neck of the woods for a year or two.

Ideally I aspire to remoteness and although I am obviously leaving behind a wild and rugged country, however the decisions had more to do with people than bicycles! It is impossible to cycle in snow-covered Canada for a chunk of the year. That said I can see myself returning here to visit my "other" family and to try something similar to the Scottish grannies. You just have to pick your time and meanwhile I keep reading CG on a B.
