I know of teachers in Leeds being told to get vaccinations over a month ago, including 20 somethings. There were told that the NHS trust decided to ignore the government and open slots up. This was not an end of the day leftovers scenario, but a proper booking. My wife (mid 40s) is a teacher in Coventry, not overly happy about going back unprotected due to the total lack of social distancing, but will continue to turn up like she has to now.

Well, write it down boy ......
I respect that view, but they also maybe glad if you went to a national centre to ease their own backlog. Assuming you have the ability to travel there & free up the local ones for people who can't.
You think it's queue jumping?
I don't think it is or I wouldn't have even tried - after all I gave all my details.
After architect's kind post I went online and found this.

It's all official.

My surgery can from experience by slightly sloppy at contacting folk about stuff.
And by booking now I have cut out a lot of uncertainty and I can work around the dates.
I would have thought it helps the NHS management of resources to have folks slot themselves in online if they can.
Whoa hold the horses! I merely said I'm happy to wait, if others get it before me I have no problem with that. In fact, I'd quite happily let my son have my jab, after all, he's still working and can't work from home. Ditto anyone else in that position.

Sorry I wasn't intending to upset you, I was just offering a different view.

Thanks marinyork. I'll pass that number on to my daughter- she's in Sheffield so fingers' crossed!

If it gets off the ground via that route she may well be sent to the Sheffield Arena, which has quite fast booking on times. When I drove my dad in the snow to get his there were loads of support and care workers having them.

More surgeries are doing them now though.

My surgery now is only doing vaccines to underline health issues or clinical obese people,
so if your 69 with a BMI of 23 you have no chance, I hate being penalised for looking after myself
I was offered one in the Isle of Wight, four bus journeys and two ferry's

It's not good. I had to drive both parents. Some at the mass vaccination centre had to be basically carried/wheeled in. The next nearest centre for us was 20 miles away.

Booked mine a few days ago (9am tomorrow and 6.45pm May 17) based on @Archie_tect 's original post.

Easy-peasy process and many thanks AT. :okay:

Got my GP invite letter today! Bit of a co-incidence! In it it says that I should take the letter with me tomorrow if I had used the centralised booking system.

It doesn't say why though!

I thought you could apply if you were 59?

Surely being 69 you should have been done?

Thanks for the link. My wife and myself (60 & 61) went online this afternoon and booked our first jabs for this coming Monday morning and the second for 11 weeks later, both at our nearest mass vaccination centre 26 miles away. Very smooth operation and received text & email confirmation almost immediately.

Which members of which high-risk groups did the trust opt to move down the list to accommodate these 20 somethings?
