Of the three puncture resistant brands I've used, Gatorskins win hands-down for being the worst.

I will go back to the Bontrager ones when I wear these out. I've used Armadillos before and they were quite good, but they are quite heavy from memory.

The thing is if you were using the Gatorskin ultras ,you are possibly being took in by the name, believing these tyres have great puncture resistance because they have a name like Gatorskin, in fact they don't have any protection on the sidewalls like a Mplus or an Armadillo, in puncture protection stakes they are middle of the road so to speak .

I think and say this from experience, that as the OP above said keeping your tyres pumped up should stop the majority of punctures. I don`t think it matters what make heard stories about all types good or bad.

If by 'pumped up' you mean inflated to the correct pressure for your weight and tyre size, then yes. There is evidence to suggest that tyres which are over-inflated are actually more prone to punctures. Someone mentioned 100psi earlier. 100psi in some cases may well be over-inflated.

A little bit of flint this time . Maybe ive just worn them out ? They don't look worn but I guess they are nearing 2000 miles .

So this confirms what I thought - they are indeed worse! The only reason I ever started using them was because Evans Cycles told me Bontrager had stopped doing a puncture resistant tyre, and sold me this instead. I've since found that they never stopped making puncture resistant tyres, so he was either lying or misinformed.
Either way, I didn't know they had nothing in the sidewalls which would explain why I have more trouble with them (and also why they are a little lighter than the other brands). Thanks for the info!

never mentioned anything about being over inflated, correct pressure for the tyre would suggest the recommended level, so for my Vittoria Rubino Pros that would be for my weight about 140psi

Vittoria have a very good app which works out your optimum PSI for the (Vittoria) tyres you are running.
