Café 24: The Clawson Kitchen, Long Clawson

I visited here twice today just before and at the end of the Retro Ride #10 in the Vale of Belvoir.

The bike in the photo is my Peugeot Optimum I rode and I've got for sale. Food? Well ... erm ... :mrpig:

Second breakfast was coffee and a cornflake cake for: 5.75
Lunch was coffee and a Cornish pastie for: 6.25

Moderately expensive but nice.

Café 25: The Watering Hole, Gawthorpe

This is only a few miles away, so more of a 'tiny ride', but I'd been on a challenging Teams meeting.

Coffee and a cake for £5.25

No wider photos as the staff were sat next to me.

Café 26: The Woodland Café, Wintersett

I like here, but today they've got a food supply issue. No delivery and lots of kiddies on half-term visiting Anglers Country Park where they're based = a problem.

However, they managed to rustle up a cheese toastie and a coffee for £6.15

Edited: they've found me a very sticky chocolate brownie as well.

Photo-wise; food, gloves, café and bike - the NeilPryde's at the back, not the balance bike.

Last weekend was the 9 Counties 600 audax and, as I've a painful back, I needed to take it a bit steadier. The 620km ride was completed but slower than normal as I needed to rest my back quite frequently. On a positive note that meant an opportunity for more café stops :mrpig: rather than rushing round and only stopping for a snack/sandwich/drink from a Co-Op or similar.

Apologies for the degradation in photo quality - I'm guessing it reflects how tired I was getting.

Café 27: Stray's Coffee , Oakham

This was supposed to be a control point, but got changed between route instructions and the start. However, I'd planned to stop so did. Really friendly, with bike storage inside.

Coffee and cake for £6.15

Quick stop in a friendly but quirky café with beans on toast plus coffee for £6.75

And onto Sunday ... (McDonald's at Glews Services in Goole for breakfast)

Café29: The Singing Kettle Cafe, Barton-on-Humber

The only place open at 9.30am on a Sunday although I was planning to stop at The Ropewalk, however that only opened at 10am. Coffee and a lovely big brownie for £4.50

Café 30: , Gainsborough

At this point I was a bit tired and got the planned stops mixed up. The aim was Reeds Coffee Shop however that was 300m further up the road and I thought I'd planned to stop at Spokes Coffee Shop, which was shut.

Opened on Saturday this is an off-shoot of the bar next door and they had a limited menu due to just opening, so no sandwiches. Instead a massive waffle with ice cream plus a coffee for £10.15 was lovely.

Café 31: Vanilla Bean, Wakefield

Not the planned stop but looked friendlier. More a 'ladies who coffee and cake' type place but I've learnt from my club's ladies section that they tend to be the best café's. Very pink and grey themed. And was friendly.

Lovely latte and big cake for £6.90

The thread appears to be just my cake trips currently but I'll struggle on keeping it going ... :mrpig:

Café 35; Preston's, Ashbourne

Not on a ride but before a ride, so it'll count in my book.

I'm down at Darley Moor for a crit race (insert daft/stupid/why?) and have half an hour to spare. Nice coffee with cake for £6.50

A new one this for me - it's part of a yoga studio half-way up a hill. Coffee and a warm sticky brownie with cream and jam (!) for £6.90
