Well done on the weight loss @Cupra
Maybe the health and fitness guys could advice you so that you don't put the weight back on once you relax the diet.
Good luck, enjoy your rides!

This is why the Paleo could well suit. It will encourage a lifestyle change, as opposed to something that you will stop when you have got to where you want to be.

Find what works for you and stick with it. If you find yourself slipping, come and ask for some help, support, advice etc etc. I've only been here a couple of weeks and I know that everyone in here wants you to succeed and will really help you if you need it!

In a little over 2 months I have gone from 24stone 9lbs to 19stone 8lbs.
Now I originally got my bike just to get fit knowing losing weight would be a by product of that however now I am not getting out of breath a lot my main goal is losing weight. I decided 1 month ago to set myself a goal (15stone) I am 6ft 4
I am now looking for advice from anyone else who has done there weight loss from cycling and what foods they ate.
I am currently living on fruit and salad (usually chicken on fish) however I am constantly hungry.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks everyone.
I have had a look at Paleo and its not for me.
I have increased my food a little this week to see if I have more energy for the bike and its not made much difference however a banana 10 mins before hand this morning and I did feel better.
The diet I am on now is a lifestyle change however I think its working more to do with my lifestyle before and how much this is drastically different.
I have gone from 5 takeaways a week with no exercise and hardly any fruit/veg and no exercise to my current diet so that's probably why its worked.
I am however sick of chicken and I don't like turkey so today I am having fish for the first time in a while.

Other than banans what do other people snack on?
Where can I get Papaya ? When I asked the veg man at work today about it he didn't know.

Again thanks for the positive comments everyone it means a lot and makes me want to work even harder.

Nice job on the weight  I have lost 58 pounds since this past August. I also cut back on a lot of the fast food and do a lot of riding. I am lucky that I like chicken and turkey and I live in an area that is a pretty big producer of each and it is not very expensive. I also like fish and the seafood places here are pretty good for the most part, it is a little more expensive but most of it comes fresh from the coast here so I eat it some. Most of the fish I eat is of the fast food variety fried fish from the Chinese take out. It is close to my house and it saves me having to cook. But I do eat it with fresh salads and other fresh veggies.

As far as snacks, I eat ice cream, I like the low fat ice cream more than the heavy stuff anyway so that helps. I just watch portions and not overdo it. I also eat cookies, cake, candy, whatever I want. I also like cantaloupes and watermelon. I usually keep some in my refrigerator all the time during the summer months. I just slice cantaloupe up and keep it in a sealed plastic bowl. Watermelon I just slice as needed and keep wrap over one end. I don't eat bananas, I like the flavor but hate the texture, so I never eat the fruit, ever. I like banana pudding though, when I order it at a restaurant, I ask for "banana pudding with no bananas please". I get some funny looks from the waitresses but they actually try to accommodate and I have to pick out very few myself.

Don't push yourself too hard on the diet. I have tried to make sure I didn't starve myself and lose too much weight too fast. I don't want to be craving too much either, I think that will knock you off your diet. I really don't look at myself as being on a diet. I look at it as a change to healthier eating habits. I will still eat anything I want, just not too much. I hate to ride soon after I eat, eating takes energy to digest the food and makes me feel rougher when I go out riding. I am not talking about 100 milers. I don't do those and not sure I really even want to, but I am sure I will probably try it and when I do I will worry about energy and bonking and all that other stuff and probably take some snacks to start eating a hour or two into the ride.

Hat off to you my friend, very impressive

Please be careful on the speed at which you lose weight.

A life style change is the way and as has been said, cycle plenty

I find these threads inspirational so thanks for posting your story - well done to you and long may it continue.

Coming from a chldhood era (50's/60's) that was less informed than today and a whole lot more impoverished I was fed on food whose main aim was to 'fill me up'. I have found it difficult to shake off sweet food cravings etc over the years due to what I think was my early conditioning.

I've been doing better since I started cycling and have completely cut chocolate, biscuits etc out of my diet - I've not had either for months and months. I still do not have a really healthy diet but it is heading in the right direction.

As said, threads like this keep me focused and help me to try and do better - it's hard though!

Congratulations on the weight loss!!!

if your getting bored of salads try adding in some pulses, I particularly like Chickpeas, they really fill you up and are great for dietry fiber and a good source of protien, studys show that they appear to improve insulin control which is an added bonus when trying to drop weight!

Snacking on nuts and seeds is good, I found them really helpful when I was trying to lose weight and still enjoy a handfull with my breakfast most mornings!

Well done but as been mentioned the speed of lose is a worry, however, if as you say it from how you were to how you are, just keep cycling, and eat what you want, but don't eat to much, eat to stop being hungry, not to be be full.
I dont really watch what I eat, but I have lost possible 1 1/2 to 2 stone, in the last 12 months and 6,500 miles later, if you go on the calories used, and this is only an approximation 6696 mile 314231 calories = 46.9 calories per mile, (this is probably a little high) approximate weight loss 6st 6lb (3500 calories to 1lb of body fat)
So in my case it's more keeping in check what I eat, but then I dont eat excessively, nor drink alcohol.

Strewth, 'well done' is barely adequate.

I'm no expert, but at that rate of loss I think you need to watch the loose skin problem - the (formerly) fat bloke on a bike mentioned earlier suffers with that.

And be careful when you step into the shower - you might fall down the plug hole.
