Well chuffed.Stripped sons bike down to bare frame from full bike in just under 25 minutes.Left all cables attached to handlebars unbolt ed the canti's from frame and left them on the cable same with rear mech.Thought it would be easier to reassemble leaving only minor adjustments. All this because bottom bracket has gone and I cannot get anything to fit it.(Not shimano splines.)
Off to a great Lbs who will get it out for me.

You did all that just to change the BB..??

outlash

also available in orange
A quick google shows it needs a 68 x122.5 BB. Here's one: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-un55-square-taper-bottom-bracket/rp-prod71369 . Took me less than 25 minutes too ;).

This is the goosed bottom bracket if you look there are 4 equally spaced spaces in the splines one can be seen at 11.00 meaning a shimano tool doesn't fit

Surely the "missing" splines shouldn't cause an obstruction to the standard BB tool. And given the state of them, it looks like they were there once and have been smashed out of the way.

Random smashing which leaves four groups of four splines at equidistant points around the circumference?
