I've yet to try this technique but i've got a peugeot tandem frame with a stubborn fixed cup that I will try it on.
Yes its french threaded, any tips?

try the big nut and bolt as per this one

Quick update on this one .
After failing to get a set of guards on to my Hercules the other night , I fitted the same pair to this Dawes in about 20 minutes all in the next night .

What type of Schwalbe are they? I do like the look of tanwalls on old steel road machines, although I'm less bothered on MTB's.

started off well this morning then all of a sudden the wind picked up and the rain came in heavily so decided to head home and ended up with another 23 miles under our belt's .
Too dark and wet to bother with pictures so you will have to take my word for it
