It's not that unusual ime & ho, I do & see this done often. When it's busy or if you're in an unfamiliar area often it's simpler & causes less hassle for other people to do a 180 at a roundabout rather than try & turn right.

If doing this manoeuvre then you really need to slowdown a little more & holding your right signal well passed the junction opposite your entry should hive other road users the information they need. Problem is people signal so badly these days half the time you just have to ignore them.

I think the main issue is that most people who use roundabouts don't know how they work, and thus signal incorrectly etc.. which in turn causes crashes due to vasts amounts of impatient in most motor vehicles.

I don't know much about our capital city but 'most people who use roundabouts' round here don't signal - period. Makes it a pain on the mini versions and means that the big ones (and we have plenty) are best avoided. I expect the unexpected - always.

Any way if its a mini roundabout (esp painted ones) you don't necessarily have to go around it (traffic permitting), you can run over it, some round here large vehicles have to wrong side them.

Around here there's a particular mini roundabout that a lot of people seem to go straight over, and as they're doing this of course they don't really need to slow down at all. All very well for them, but they have not thought about it from the point of view of someone giving way to them. It's impossible to see what's coming from more than a few metres at the give-way line so they should to slow right down and go ROUND the roundabout so that people can actually see to give way to them!

Getting back to the original point of doing a 180, it's perfectly ok to do, but I would always take it quite wide and slowly to give people a chance to see me. Some people just screetch round an expect people to know what they're doing - Accidents waiting to happen!

Oh as a cyclist I always give way at a mini unless there's a car turning right across you & shielding you from the car on the right.

Nope,
if the car has already entered the roundabout before you then he can take whatever exit he pleases.

Surely you mean, they :becool:
Oh the agonies of trying to fit in PC non-sexist pronouns! I generally use they although it makes the grammar incorrect.

If only we all spoke Hungarian (which doesn't have masculines or feminines). e.g.:

Sorry, OT, as you were folks...

I think the point made is that the vehicle actually carries out a U turn. Effectively going round the RAB the wrong way to return to the opposite carriageway he/she came from.(Instead of going all the way round the RAB). I must admit I have never seen this happen
