“Super” as a substitute for “very”.

I’m super excited to be here!

See nearly every pro-cyclist interview for details .

In coffee shops
"Do you want milk with that"

NO - because otherwise I would not have asked for a black americano would I??
on a similar note - but not verbal - people who serve coffee and leave room for the milk when I have specifically asked for it black!

Sorry but I often ask for a black americano when I want to add cold milk specifically. Otherwise you can end up with one made with steamed milk which tastes different.

Dogtrousers

Kilometre nibbler
Induction

Orientation

Familiarisation

Starter pack

Form filling before doing your proper job

None of those match up specifically with onboarding which would cover things like payroll setup, issuing passes, account setup, issuing equipment, scheduling induction sessions, doing stuff with filled in forms, blah blah blah.

Sure it's a jargon word, but all businesses have jargon. Do we frown on caterers for saying "prep" when they mean "chopping things up with big knives"

Yes, I'd say "onboarding" included all of the below activities, whilst Induction specifies only the last actvitiy.

A Advertise vacancy
B Interview and select candidate (including offer and contract-signing)
C Confirm ID of candidate and their right to work; seek references
D Payroll stuff
E Security vetting if appropriate
F Agree start date
G Sort out any relevant logins and equipment allocations
H Candidate completes initial training/familiarisation

In the IT world, you can work for one employer but have multiple assignments with different customers, each requiring a specific onboarding process. As you're already an employee, steps A-D are then irrelevant.
