Hi
I'm in the process of replacing my gear and brake cables, frst time I've done this. I have fitted The front derailleur cable but have not attached to the front mech.
I thought I'd check that when changed gear, it actually pulled the cable, it didn't. Is that normal ?
They are ST5800...
I apologise in advance if this is not appropriate to this section but the bike in question is vintage !
I have been asked if l would ship a bicycle from my place (in France) to Russia :bicycle:
I have no idea which shipper would be prepared to take the job or even if it is possible.....does...

Hi,
I'm looking to hire a bike when I'm in France in June. One shop has the derailleurs as Shimano 11 but I don't quite know what that means. Is it like 105, Ultegra or something else?
I have contacted the shop but am still awaiting a reply
I could add a link to their website but am not sure...
Has anyone any experience of trying to open Rapidfire shifters just enough to get at jammed up parts to get them moving again?
I know that they reputedly have a tendency to spring apart when opened completely, but I have heard rumours that if you carefully open them a bit, it is possible to get...
I might want to swap a 6 speed MTB rear wheel into a frame which currently has a 5 speed freewheel and 5 speed SIS handlebar shifter. Apart from me not being able to use all six rear gears, will the 5 speed indexing still work ok on the 6 speed freewheel or are the sprocket spacings different?
Not sure if this is allowed under the rules but l have already posed a question on the Repairs and mechanics Thread but l thought there would be no harm in asking everyone on my usual area of interest.
The question is can l install a Shimano cable stop /adjuster in place of the down tube...
This may be a simple question with an equally simple answer but it has me struggling at the moment.
Is it possible to find Shimano stops to replace the down tube levers and enable me to install STI brakes.
See photo for braze on design.
I have a pair of Shimano XT ST-M738 Rapidfire Shifters which have been installed for a while now. I get the feeling that gear changing is getting stiffer although it could be my arthritic thumbs. I'd like to lubricate them but don't know if I should or how. I have looked for a service manual...
Shimano CS-5800 105 11 speed 11-28 x 2 cassettes now SOLD
CS-HG50 8 speed 11-28 which is unused. This was bought to go on the trainer but it seems the design of these cassettes means that only 2 out of 3 of the holes on the rear of the largest sprockets have a rivet so it doesn't quite sit...
Hello all, I dug my ebike project out today to get ready and hopefully put a few miles on it.
Unfortunately the rear caliper decided otherwise (has leaked fluid while stood).
To be fair they are 5 or 6 years old so may be par for the course.
I can get the same caliper again, but they seem to...
I am on my second pair of these, which are now almost worn out. It looks as though they have been discontinued, as nobody seems to stock my size (46) and it looks as though most sellers are just shifting remaining stock.
So what to replace them with? I use them on a road bike. Main criteria are...
The thread on the bleed port of one of mine is Goosed. Was hoping just to replace the lid, but sods law the port is part of the main body.
Ideally want Black with silver lid.
New 6000 levers are £20 but I'm skint till at least Feb!
I'll happily repair a bust lever/clamp with parts from mine.
Brand new unused.
These rings were removed from the cranks before fitting on bike, so never ridden or been near a chain and now available for £40 posted for the pair. BACS or Paypal gift
These rings will also fit R8000 cranks (but the logos won't match).
I'm looking for a pair of band on clamps for my Shimano Tourney STI shifters.
This is the sort of thing.
I have the sleeve nut, I just require the bolt and band assembly. for left and right.
I am have problems with 8 speed Shimano Alfine hub gears. I've recently changed both the inner and outer cable but no matter how carefully I adjust it the gears still slip. Typically it slips from 7th into 6th under load. I don't know what more I can do. Does any know some in central south...
Why don't they feckin' tell you when you buy shifters that one inner cable is now cut shorter than the other, or at least label the things front and rear. I've had to buy a new length of outer to replace the one I cut far too short trying to reach the rear mech with the front inner cable.
I...

The pic is of my current shifters working a Shimano Sora gearset on my beloved Felt F95 which I have recently acquired and absolutely love. Been to mechanic today who gave me a bike fit and said the only thing I would possibly need to upgrade would be the shifters. I have two questions. There...
