I'm thinking of changing the flat standard pedals on my bike, to ones where I could wear a cycling shoe and clip in on one side, with the other side flat so I could still use normal shoes. I've seen a few comments on the pros and cons here, but I'm not clear on the terminology and could do with...
Selling on behalf of my step son a 2010 GT Avalanche 2 MTB (Hard Tail).
£125 ono.
The bike is in a good/fair condition, my step son has mentioned that it could do with a good full service, I rode it today up and down the street and everthing works just fine for me. It's not been used in any...
cost me £60 and only ridden a few times. the tongue rubs my ankle.
Tried trimming them down but still not happy
£23 posted ?
apart from the trimmed tongue they are pretty much new
Don't need stats, anecdotes will do. No deep motivation for needing to know, just interested. Is the greater weight and smaller gearing of a mtb offset by the advantages offered by its suspension?
Must remember when someone says to me that they have an old bike I can have , not to yes till I have actually seen it .
A neighbor of my parents said to me last week about an old bike in his shed he no longer wanted . So I popped in tonight and came away with this
Gear Pods not working ...
Does anyone have a 26" MTB rear wheel they's be willing to part with for not much money? Needs to fit a 7 or 8 speed cassette and rim brakes. It's for el cheapo bike that's outside during the day so as long as it's basically round and functional. I've already bought 2 new wheels for that bike...
I keep getting asked if I have a MTB ? So I`m now in a position to get myself a MTB.
So far I`ve decided on a hardtail 27.5 , but there are still too many bikes and makes to choose from. I`ve been looking a Scott and Norco and Gaint plus others. Then on Friday I called into a local shop and had...
Riding out on my old Marin Nail Trail, managed to get a definite 4 out of 15 on yesterday's ride: long stem, bar ends, finger-less gloves and toe clips. Plus I think the old Rock Shox are probably equipped with elastomers, and my seat is fairly large (but comfy). Plus this list is already 3...

In the market for some clipless MTB shoes for commuting. Been looking and trying on quite a few pairs and I am finding a lot of the MTB shoes, like the Shimano M089 for example, have very thin tongues, to the point that the shoes around the tongue area is digging into my foot when it is at...
I have a pair of bog standard disk mtb wheels (black) which are a bit too good to bin, their only fault is that the bearing cones are getting a bit rough..........................and I ended up buying a new pair of wheels that I couldn`t afford!!
Basically I couldn`t be bothered to wait a week...
Just listed this Giant Ladago MTB on Gumtree , if any cc'er fancies it i should be able to courier it if need be .

Cheap and cheerful but surprisingly effective. Was built by me from a frame/forks donated by a friend and using a selection of bits from my parts bin. Has been ridden around various 'proper' MTB trail centres by both my kids without any problems but is now surplus to requirements.
I don't...
Keeping up with @Tony Raynor by picking up a vintage Giant Ladago MTB .
Nice original condition and includes an all terrain Brooks saddle!!
Not sure if it's big enough for @smokeysmoo ?
I had the pleasure of attending this event in Fort William over the weekend with my son who is a great fan of the downhill mountain biking.
I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in seeing some extremely skilful cycling. The speed that they go down an extremely steep course full of...

1. Specialized Riata MTB shoes £10 - well used but lots of life yet and with brand new never used Shimano insoles.
2. F:zik Donna road shoes in original box £50 - worn once (my custom insoles didn't quite work with...
Just fitted using a Lindarets road link.
I was amazed at how well it shifts as I'd heard the gaps between the sprockets were different on mtb cassettes.
I did fit a spacer behind the cassette also.
Can't wait to try it out on the steep stuff.
As per title it was my late brothers. I think its about 4 or 5 years old and barely used. I'm not an MTBer so unfamiliar with frame sizing but I'm 5' 9 1/2" and it seems to be fine for me. Frame states 37cm 14.5" size. Shimano Hyperglide 8 speed cassette, Acera rear derailleur, Truativ X-Flow...
Thinking of investing in some clipless pedals and shoes for the first time. Does anyone use MTB SPDs and shoes on a road bike? Thinking of this option rather than standard road shoes and road pedals as it seems cheaper and perhaps easier for someone not used to being clipped in.
Does anyone have any info on riding the Welsh C2C from Holyhead to Chepstow on a MTB using off road tracks & trails .... obviously some roads will be necessary !
We're planning on doing it over 4 days
Any ideas would be appreciated. Ta.
had this just over 1 year

Hello everyone, I'm in need of new tyres for my mtb ( the old knobby ones are worn to bits and the rubber is cracking, about 9years old I think based on when I bought the bike).
My main goal is to get speed improvement and ease of driving,I can deal with a bit less grip- I think the lowest...

I have for sale a brand new Specialized MTB pump. It was a warranty replacement for the previous pump of mine which snapped. Unfortunately they changed the design so the new one is only compatible with presta heads and I use Schraeder.
They retail for £40. I would like £30 so I can put it...
