picked this up last week and have to say it rides nice (usually ride classic road bikes). Not going to get many more chances to give it a spin as the wife has decided she will ride it. Think it's 2006/7 ish and probably never done 100 miles in its life.
My lad is looking decidedly silly on his Ridgeback MX24, which in fairness has lasted a good few years. So I'm on the hunt for a half decent next bike, max budget is about £400 - £500 as this will have to last him and his sister as she's grows up.
Any recommendations? I've been looking for 26"...
Hello all,
I have decided (reluctantly) to sell my Norco Ryde 2009.
The bike is in fantastic condition with the odd scratch.
As proof of the quality and durability of the bike I recently took this hardtail bike down the black trails at hamsterly forest and it passed the test with...
Was pootling along a flat section at 16.5 mph and got overtaken by an MTB...doing 30 mph!
And he was hardly pedaling.
Now, make of it what you will but let's just say the downtube was big.
Just jealous, he was absolutely flying.
How long does the charge last on one of those things.
I'm trying to find some decent baggie MTB shorts that have 40" waist as I'm not the slimmest of people.
Can find XXXL on eblag but even those are 38".
Any recommendations very welcome..... Apart from lose weight.
Warning of a homemade MTB (or possibly Trial Motorbike?) stinger found near Holmfirth.
This is just beyond belief and could cause very serious injury to bridleway users especially MTB riders or horses.
Whoever did this, if caught, needs sending down.

Having been away from cycling for around 12 years i got back in to commuting / road cycling aout 5 years ago.
I have now bought myself a Full Sus Boardman Team FS.
I hadn't initially intended on a FS but at £800 after about £200 with of discounts it was too tempting.
I have now been out and...
A used pair of Shimano XC61 mountain bike shoes, size 38. Original RRP was around £150 and this is a 2014 pair. They've been used and have slight scrapes on each side, as per photos. Come without cleats.
Features are:
Aggressive dual injection-moulded mud-shedding tread pattern provides...
Hi, Just got a new mtb and want to swap out the stock grips for something a bit more comfortable. Any recomendations. What features should I be looking for? Would prefer lock ons. Something that will provide some support as I get uncomfortable quite quickly with poor grips.
Mods, I have put...
160mm not enough for your gnarly riding? This beauty has just made its first appearance. And not only that, you can get to ride it away for much less than a regular DH bike. Would love to see what this could do on the Llanberis path coming down off Snowdon...
Since I got back to cycling, I've been pondering the technological developments in bicycles that have come along during my 20-year absence.
I'm happy to admit I'm a road bike traditionalist, and I think there are few things more elegant than the classic steel frame geometry of old. My dream...
I'm looking to get back into mountain biking after a bit of a hiatus after doing some blue/beginner trails on my hybrid. Looking to spend 1k or less and it wont be my main hobby plus I also do a fair amount of road cycling. I'm looking for a fun slackish trail bike as opposed to an xc bike(no...
I'm fed up of buying stuff only for it to become obsolete a few years later
What size will MTB wheels be in 10 years time? 29" or 27.5"?
I don't want to spend ££££ on a bike only for the wheel size to be wrong in 10 years time. My current bike has 26" wheels and already the latest tyres are not...
I thought I would share an engineering news article with you. I'm always interested to read about innovation in bike building. A lot of it seems to be in the road bike arena, but this idea of a MTB frame being machined from a single lump of aluminium interests me. I've not seen it outside of...
Hi,
Dont anyone saw the original article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/25/solicitor-left--paralysed-in-cycling-accident-sues-79-mountain-b/ about this, but it's just been announced that the instructor lost the case, which now bodes very badly if you ask me.
Used maybe done 100 miles and decided it's not for me. Only flaw seems to be where I snagged the rear gear cable in the woods. Has been used so maybe some marks on it. Here is the skinny from the Halfords website. I got the medium frame I'm 5ft 11 and it's got plenty of scope either way...
On the cheap if possible!
Went out on my new MTB for the first time on Sunday and the Maxxis Cross max simply arent suitable for winter boggy riding!
I dont mind if they're used, just as long as they'll put up with a few months riding whilst I work out if MTB is really for me!
Thanks!
Stephen

I know someone who is looking for a small mtb or hybrid. She isn't going to be doing much mtb-ing so maybe a hybrid is what would suit her best.
I'm told that an out and out road bike would probably not suit her.
She about 5'1'' with an inside leg of 28''. It needs to be in good condition, with...
Shimano MTB shoes. Couple of years old, used. Brought the wrong size so although used didn't see much use. No cleats but captive nut plates in place. Asking £10. Size 46.
Want to replace my knobblies with something more road biased but I imagine my Rocky will look a bit crap with slimmer skinnier tyres. Have seen some MTB`s wearing Schwalbe Kojaks 26 x 2.0 and they look pretty good, but is this my only option ?
Hi all.
I have an old Saracen MTB. I'm wanting to put full length mudguards on it for winter use. However, on close inspection, there are no bolt holes / mounting points front or rear. Wanting some that are relative secure if possible as not really impressed with those seat post ones, it snapped...
I'm going to be changing the rear cassette on my dad's old "retro" specialized hardrock. It currently has a 7 speed 11 to 28 rear cassette. Can I change the ratio to 12 to 32 and keep the same chain length?
He isn't a high speed cyclist and I think he'd prefere a few easier climbs.
Also rear...
Hi folks I'm using Shimano M540 SPD's and my shoes are by Specialized but they're old so I can't remember the model. They're comfortable though so no problems there. Wher I am having problems is when it comes to releasing my feet quickly. It's not a problem when I decide to stop myself but...
This is NOT a for sale topic
We've got a Trek 4000 mtb with yellow Rock shock Judy's fitted which gives an idea to it's age (1999 / 2000 ish) with Icon, avid and shimano components.
We're considering selling it as the wife has never been entirely comfortable on it as it's a little long for...
