I've changed a cassette once before for a clean, but I made sure I kept everything in a clear order to fit back on.
I've just received a shimano rs10 rear wheel, and a shimano tiagra cs4600 12-30t cassette.
I know the cassette pieces will slot on easy, but the wheel comes with a 1.8mm spacer...
Hi all -
My very good condition and mechanically excellent 7800 Dura-Ace rear mech (ss) for a med/long 6600 rear mech and Ultegra level 28T cassette. Happy to consider other suggestions/options/deals of course
Hi - looking at this mech - is it short or med? Anyhoo - even if it is short can I get an 11-28 cassette in there?
50/34 FC-700 compact chainset.
Thanks in advance
I have a set of Campag Khamsin Wheels with what ever hub came with them.
I also have 2 10 speed cassettes, each with a different pattern to slide on. Both of them seem to be too small! the diameter of the freehub body seems bigger than the hole in the middle of the cassettes.
Do i have to...
Just noticed one of the spokes has cracked out of my wheel on my main commuting bike which is 9 speed.
So I have an old bike 8 speed which I didnt think about at the time and thought just swap the wheel and cassette but the 9 speed cassette would not fit as it was sitting proud by about one cog...
I am currently running a Campy9speed triple 52 42 32,The cassets largest cog is 26 9 speed..I would like to change the cassette to lower the gearing,perhaps a 30 or 32 largest cog..The largest I can find is a 29.
Dos any one know if such a campy cassette exists and if so who the supplier is...
Changing from a 28 tooth to a 32 cassette and the high is 12 tooth ,old one is 11.
Will I need to change the mech. to a long cage ?
Shimano group set .
Thank you for any replies or advice.
I still sometimes play cassettes on a Technics dbx deck .
The quality can vary a lot, but sometimes you can find a good one, like some of the old Springsteen stuff.
Anyone else still play cassettes in this digital download world.
I have an old Claud Butler Legend which I used for many years as a commuter bike. I've been retired for 4 years and it has hardly moved. Recently I started using it for off-road trails and enjoyed this. However it needs a new chain and cassette. Currently it as an 8 speed Shimano Acera...
Hi all,
I have a Shimano Tiagra 10 spd cassette that I need to change.
I know I'll need a chain whip but which cassette removal tool?
would an FWE Shimano HG cassette removal tool work?
Cheers

I have started to try to convert an old Raleigh Elan road bike to Single speed (Exage motion with Biopace chainrings) . The bike does not look like it's had any maintenance ever !! In need of some TLC for sure. I am struggling to remove the cassette, it looks like the Shimano lock ring tool...
Just swapped my chain for a new one as I hit the 1.0 mark on my chain wear thingy. This freewheel cassette has only seen 1 chain (I replaced them as a pair last time) and visually I certainly thought I would get a few more chains out of this one. But to my utmost surprise i'm skipping badly when...
Hi
Specialized Allez Elite 2008.
Today riding home, I was not able to change the gear on the rear cassette. Moving the Tiagra levers/paddles on the shifter made no difference. Can't move up gear, can't move down gear. It is stuck on the 2nd highest gear on the cassette.
Oddly, the gear cable...
For sale are the 700c Axis 2.0 SCS disc wheels that came on my 2016 Specialized Roubaix. As the name suggests these have the SCS geometry which places the freehub/cassette 2.5mm inboard from its standard position. Also available are the standard SCS offset derailleur hanger from my roubaix, two...
My bike is cuurently running Tiagra 34/50 front and 12/30 rear but I am struggling with some of the really steep ascents round here. My knees are really feeling it after last night.
What is a larger cassette I can swap to without changing mechs. Think the current bike has a medium cage mech...
Just wondering what models people are aware of that have cassette based gearing rather than freewheels at the lower end of pricing. Not keen on freewheels to say the least.
I know of the Carrera Intercity which is £350 but are there any other models at similar or even less pricing?
Hi,
I've just put a shiny new chain and cassette on my bike but something is amiss. Although I can pedal the bike and change through the full range of gears, the chain pulls through the cassette and jockey wheels quite roughly and doesn't seem at all happy.
I've put new chains on my bikes...
I've just tried to replace the cassette on my wheel but have an issue when tightening the cassette lock ring, if I do it any more than finger tight the cassette binds in to the hub so it won't freewheel.
It is a Superstra Pave 28 wheel which is 11 speed ready. I have got Shimano 10 speed...
My Novatec hub cassette body is showing signs of wear, some indentations on the raised parts, I've only run Ultegra cassettes so was surprised to see this wear after only 4000 miles or so.
See pic
Is this normal?
Do I need to replace the cassette body or have I a bit more life left yet?
Thanks
Classic question relating to change up from 12-25 to 11-28 cassette and whether or not i need a longer chain. A quick test run seems to show changes all ok up to both large cog combo. Derallieur quite, but not fully, extend and chain is taught but not stretched seemingly. Check out the image -...
I have a brand new set of RS 11 for sale. Taken off a new bike.
£90 collection from S Manc. Cassette and tyres sold separate-see below.
Brand new 105 11 speed cassette £20
Brand new Lugano tyres £10 the pair
Not a lockring or spacer issue afaik as its tight in that direction but you can move the individual rings forward and back a little on the free hub .
Never seen it with sram cassettes i normally use or the old 8 speed before hand .
