BREAKING NEWS

Zwift announce in-game World choice.

“From within the game, simply go to the settings screen.
Select End Game and then Discard

You have a prefs.xml file in your Zwift user directory (which is in your Documents/Zwift directory on PC/Mac). Open this file in a text editor like Wordpad and simply add one of the following tags to force Zwift to place you in Watopia, Richmond, London, or Innsbruck.

To ride Watopia, add: <WORLD>1</WORLD>
To ride Richmond, add: <WORLD>2</WORLD>
To ride London, add: <WORLD>3</WORLD>
When we can finally be arsed to release New York, add <WORLD>4</WORLD>
To ride Innsbruck, add: <WORLD>5</WORLD>

Launch the Zwift game”

Zwift’s Head of Annoyance and co-founder, Jon, says that this latest innovation is in line with their recent over complication of the in-game navigation selections. He reveals that next year, after an update, you will only be able to change your virtual kit by utilising a webcam which will recognise you dismounting your bike and spinning on the spot through 360 degrees.

We have to be careful to choose the right course comparison too. I suspect many of us were caught out as we rode onto the town and looked for the markers to take us past the podium finish and around the roundabout to the Chrono finish. Thats not a mistake made twice.
This is the the official chrono course time for us CC'ers.

I think the best marker is at the tourist office. Even has a goal line on the pavement as I remember it. The last part to the official finish is pretty boring IMO.

So after a month off cycling on holiday and recovering from minor surgery on my left leg I've cycled 3 days on the trot; to work and back on Wednesday and Thursday, and a quick leisurely spin on Zwift this afternoon.

By quick leisurely spin of course I mean my first FTP test :surrender: I did the 45 minute one, 20 mins of warm up, 20 mins FTP test and 5 minute cool down.

Crap, that was hard work. I read lots of articles yesterday evening about it, all of which said prepare yourself because they suck. I kinda dismissed it a little bit but seems they were right  I didn't pace it very well and probably could have done a little better but not a lot - I think this is a fair reflection of where I am right now and, if nothing else, a good base to work from

I scored 197W btw, I didn't set a target but I am fairly pleased I guess  A little annoying to only be 3W under 200 but that makes taking another test in a month or so more appealing :okay: Would the month off have affected it do you think? As you can see I stopped pedalling quite a lot :shy:

I'm looking to do the 18 mile London flat race tonight if anyone fancies a spin. Legs a smidge tired from last night but should be ok. Should have added, at 5:05 :okay:

I agree, and not just because I was too busy giving lee a slap on the back to know we still had a few hundred metres left. That last bit was about as underwhelming as it could be. Although I still haven’t looked for the tourist timing on strava.

I was happy with my power figure in the end. Quite surprised to be honest as I would of accepted something lower. There was one section around 23 mins where I put out 310w so that puts me well above my estimated ftp on Zwift. It also raises my expectation for next year so maybe that isn’t so good!

Just did a Zwift race and had no trouble at all getting to the front of the B pack. Then realized I hadn't gone through the pairing setup on my new PC and that the power was probably Bkool power . Nice programing of Zwift to have everything working without a setup.
After 5 min, the trainer suddenly jumped to a much more realistic mode, but by then things has settled a bit in the front, so I was able to stay there.
Then after 10 min everyone just disappeared. Looked like I was still in the race with a position of --/82. Guess that would be unknown out of 82?
Anyway, the Bkool gift gave me an insight of what it takes to get to the front and stay there, and I'm not sure I'm ever going to be able to achieve that with real power.

This one is good: https://www.strava.com/segments/652851
You can see the line on the pavement if you click on the end point.

Your time is almost 4 min. faster than the one I set back in 2013.
If I had done it with my current weight and my own bike (the Trek bike weight 9.5 kg), I would expect to cut 2:30 to 3 min with the same effort, so I would still have to be fitter than I was in 2013 to beat your time.
