Yer once I caught on what was going on I pushed on and leapfrogged between a few groups but got stuck with a group of 3 guys where no one wanted the front! Which slowed us a bit but then we got it going together and that was that till what should have been a sprint but I was done!

Out of interest I was cat c was everyone I saw cat c also or are the races mixed?
I finished in the last half of cat c should I drop down to d?
It varies race to race. Note that in theory riders from one group shouldn't be drafting off riders from another, I think the vast majority do in practice. So you may find that the strongest riders in C are actually in a group of primarily B riders, which will allow those C riders to pull way ahead of the rest of the C groups. You'll also see folks try to latch onto faster groups as they pass on courses like the volcano CCW where the fast groups will lap the slower groups.

This.
One of the reasons why people often complain some of the C’s are fast as B’s. It’s often more complex than people simply sandbagging. Best not too get too worked up about it, learn to conserve energy in th draft and attack to gain advantage or to bridge and one day win.

Did ZA Workout #5 tonight. The 3 x 1 minute guided intervals made we work quite hard and I was pleased to beat the max one in the first "Free" minute hitting nearly my best ever 1 minute power figure. I tried to beat that in the final free minute but blew up with about 20 seconds to go.

Still, another one done

Really ... I can't believe C riders would latch on to B riders to get a free ride

To be fair though, it takes a hell of a lot of effort to get into a group of B's (or C's that are upgraded) so I think it's OK if strong enough to make it and hold on

I failed the last 1 minute guided interval. Couldn't hold 410 watts for a minute. The free sessions I managed aves of about 370 in both, which was not as high as the 385 watts I held for interval 2. I found that very hard!

guys bit of advice, done my FTP test on pro and got 252 which I knew was prob a bit unrealistic but went with it whilst on the pro, now have the Kickr and kept it as it was to see how I got on, I can keep up just but proper blowing out my ar**! Set up zwift power this morning and that is logging me at 220 I presume from my last few events which have been on the kickr, do I manually change it down to 220 or stick with where I am? Or will It automatically knock me down if it needs it?? also going from power I should be cat d ? I want to be in the right group but also don't want it to be too easy??

cheers

they won’t make it easy for you ! If you do a few races it will plonk you in the right group - whether you like it or not !

Have you done a ftp test on the KICKR? That would be ideal. Once you have an accurate ftp, your w/kg is easy to work out and that tells you which cat to race in.

Zwift will have given you an ftp based on rides to date. It’s used to exclude non ftp workouts but that may have changed. Zwift power used to take it from Zwift but not sure if that changed recently- you may have to manually set it.
If you are going to do one have a look at the options including the ramp test. I suspect you have done enough to know any test is only as accurate as what you give it...go for it fella :okay:

Do you have TrainerRoad? They have a Ramp ftp test that is only about 16 minutes long. Gave me very similar results
