I rode the Alp today, choosing to average 3w/k after a warm up , so around 216w. I worked out this would bring me in around the hour mark. It all went to plan, despite getting into a race for a while, but I have Just seen Dave did a zone 2 Alp ride and beat my time
Anyway, I alternated sitting and spinning to a bend and then standing and applying a bit more power to the next. Perfect Pyrenees training...I hope.
Dave is right to one side of the bell curve in terms of cycling abilities
For sure.
I was aiming to keep HR below 130 for as long as possible and then 150 but as I hit last 1/3 it crept up. I want to break 55min if possible just before Pyrenees trip which will take sweet spot for 35m and ftp for last 20
Haha! At least it’s a target mate. It’s doing it 4 days on the spin in France that’s going to make it even more testing shall we say.
I was thinking I’d force myself to get off the bike on the way up climbs to take a few picture. It might dampen the urge to burry myself at every opportunity!

You may have seen it on Thursday but I did a threshold effort up the Alpe ~4.86 w/kg, finishing in 41:38 IIRC. HR was lower than expected so it's possible I can squeeze out a touch more. I'm in no rush to find out though!
BTW I was 67 kg 3 months ago and I'm currently 61.4 kg, and that has made a massive difference.
