Q1 There isnt a great deal of difference in pricing- if you want to get into indoor riding quickly get the core with hand shifters from Zwift- especially if you're using single speed bike With shifters, makes the Core cheaper than Jetblack https://uk.zwift.com/collections/al...ift-one-and-zwift-play?variant=46738918801648

Q2 There is a minimum spec for Zwift to work well on devices see here https://support.zwift.com/en_us/supported-devices-to-run-zwift-H1Cj9QbeB
Better experience with decent PC and large screen.

Note TV is mounted low down so as not to crick neck-important for long ride comfort

This is our family setup, mainly for me and the wife, she likes to watch movies whilst riding on Rouvy, the riding is secondary

Q3 Apple 4k box work well, you lose a little functionality, but they do work well- I have a few relatives that use Apple tv box

Q4 Yes I use a full rocker plate-made my own many years ago. They really add to a natural feel of riding, especially useful on longer indoor sessions. Started with half board then made a full length see thread

Where is that sweet, sweet Tripster TI bike?

The view from my saddle.

Nice one. Three screens is the minimum acceptable number

Thanks everyone!

I checked the wall space where I was thinking of mounting the TV and there isn't enough. I would have to put the TV above or overlapping the radiator, which I wouldn't want to do. However... I have a chin-dip station at the side of the chimney breast across the room and there is room there, and room elsewhere for the chin-dip.

The new proposed room layout would not work if anybody else were to be trying to get in and out of the king-size bed on that side but that isn't very likely these days. (If I got lucky they could always take a shortcut over my side!)

It would be nice if other apps started supporting the Zwift Cog but as stated above, I could always buy a cassette and use a bike with gears if I decided to change app.

Apple TV does seem a neat solution and it would sort out the problem with the awful YouTube app on the old TV. (It is clunky and doesn't even do HD!) Quite tempting to use the old laptop though. That has a 2.2 GHz i7 cpu and integrated graphics. I will try it out after today's ride.

I am really torn between a Kickr Core now and waiting for a Victory! It makes sense not to waste the best turbo months but I could do dumb turbo again while waiting for my container ship to come in...

I forgot to ask... Q: How important is sound on Zwift, or do you listen to music while riding? I have some fairly decent Mission speakers that I haven't used since I was a student, plus a spare 35W/channel amp. It might be worth fishing those out. I would probably be doing my Zwift sessions during the day when annoying my neighbours would not be an issue. For evening rides I would probably use my earbuds, though sweaty ears might be an issue!

Speaking of sweat... Yes, I do know that a decent fan is vital. I destroyed my first turbo in one season by not noticing that sweat was running round to the bottom of its frame. I always wiped down what I could see but forgot about what I couldn't see!

As everyone else the zwift music has been muted since day 1 for me. I've tried bone conduction earphones but generally just play dire straits and the kinks cool contemporary beats through my phone.

Fans plus plus. Industrial fans are best! Apple TV does the job. They keep talking about a newer model but nothing seems to materialise

Have I mentioned I don't like Innsbruck especially the leg snapper 🤢 7th out of 7 ( 6 of 6 on zp ) tonight, crested the snapper 1st time with 4 in front 2 seconds ahead and 2 behind 3 behind but was gassed so couldn't chase the 4 so let the others catch and we rode to the snapper together working well and holding the gap but not closing . 2nd up the snapper 1 rider blasted away set a pr took 7 secs out of the two of us and we never saw them again ,3rd time up I gapped by rival by 3 secs but lost all that on the descent so a sprint for last place which I lost 😞. Good news I did sufficiently badly to get relegated but zr score is 1 good result from promotion I'm going to be yo yo a lot this month

Mine and Steve's race was a group of four. We decided to try and hold on up the LS first lap, but we were blown away by the other two. They teamed up, bit one rider was much stronger and left him. Steve and I shared the chase on lap 2, we caught him and approached LS for the 2nd time. Steve said go to me, so we edged away. I wasn't going to work and gamble on hanging on LS last lap. I did manage to hold him to a few metres. Cat and mouse to the finish
where my opponent repeatedly made false start sprints. Then he went for it, I was ready, wound up my sprint and this time kept changing up gears keeping the power going. I came by and gradually gapped him by 15 metres, hit over 1000W and again jumped up a category with 2nd place

For the final lap I had half an eye on your power numbers and the great job you were doing in staying in the draft and letting the other guy be in the lead no matter how much he tried to shake you off, but then actually switched to your view to watch the finishing sprint. With the cat and mouse games you two were playing, it did at least mean I was able to keep the gap to about 10 seconds until we hit the Snapper for the third time.

Racing Score dropped by 15 after tonight, having not moved by more than a point for the past month. Yet my numbers were pretty much the same as last week's and that result wasn't exactly stellar either.
