They dropped Ed Lavarack before the first turn. He got a new PB but was 2 mins down on the Ovett

Osborne a favourite to win who had a mechanical early steamrolled past Ed with a few turns to go to come in 20th

How did you get on? I'm getting a chance to do a crit race with MSR on in background, bliss

I smashed all my longer power records, took 5 minutes off last year's time and came 4th in my Cat.
Very pleased with that one. 240W (+4 to PR) for 20 minutes trying to hold onto the front pack from the Desert pens to the top of Titans fwd.
Only 1 in our category held. By the time we got to the Volcano I was 3rd in my Cat, I very quickly fell off the B group I was with on the climb, but there were four Cs about a minute behind me and there was no way I was catching the two ahead (Franny was in position 2 and she's 52kg and very strong - she was in the Champs Élysées Friday smash recently). So I went a bit easier on the climb and let the 4C + 1B catch me and we stayed together until the end. Picking up another B and one more C caught us near the end. Got outsprinted by one but managed to beat all the rest. It was VERY VERY hard going though. Those Bs made it hurt. Best long race I've ever done though, by far.

Today Zwift games stage 5 - hill climb

A 20 min power test of sorts. I wanted to hold 290W or more for the climb, nearly but not quite 285W

I was more pleased I didn't crumble near the end. I haven't done any specific training for a long while, just a few races.

A new PB for jungle turn to crest of Epic KOM reverse ^_^

Should put me in good stead for flat Friday smash ;)

You should contemplate doing the Alpe with the As, @Peter Salt , to get as fast a time up there as possible. In a B race, I suspect that you'd be right up front and that, if you're in a group, the others there (and you!) would be cagey and try to shirk turns as much as possible. If you latch onto the right As and pace it well, you should be good for a 45 or better...
No chance I'll do it with the As; pretty sure the B pen will be full of 50kg riders pushing over 4.5W/kg for the hour - so there's no risk of me being at the front

I wanted to do it yesterday but life got in the way. Hopefully, will have a go at 2pm but I don't expect fireworks, let alone a PB.

177 average for the race. Bit nuts over that time-frame. My LTHR is supposedly about 179 though (max 197), so just about doable.
Those B riders did push us hard though. A few times I nearly fell off, but they kept us away from the guys chasing us, so although it was "hurty" it was "good". The supreme irony is that neither of them are registered on the Chasing site, so they get DQed from the official results.

Sunday morning it's raining again FRR are doing a route I've not got the badge for so jumped on same time slot as last week . I think most people are at stage 18 !!! or so , In the C pen with Bon and Cay ,I'm a bottom Cay everyone together until the 1st sprint where a guy I rode with last week Dave got spat out the back , I slowed up and then pulled him to 2 others who where 8 secs up recovered then pulled this group up to 2 others where another guy I rode with last week was Chris , Group worked together until Fox hill , I paced up Dave up and chased down Chris and another on the descent , The 4 of us worked on the flat me taking longer turns until Box hill , Again I paced up Dave could see the 1st JLPs catchings us having started 2 mins back ,1 caught us before the top then 1 on the descent . Rode with Dave to the end he was very thankful for the help they've got a rest day tomorrow massive respect to anyone first done all the stages FRR don't make them easy

Did turn out to be a PB in the end. But with the neutralised bikes and large group through the few first hairpins, it's hard to say what's it worth. I did set out a tiny bit too quickly and started to fade about 3/4 of the way up, but other than that it was alright.

Unusually I had free reign from the missus to do a Sunday ride, she was off watching West Ham with her brother. Last night we had been to a dinner dance so was questioning myself as to whether it was sensible to race on beer fumes. I felt I had no hangover whatsoever so decided to do zwift games stage 5. Also a chance to test out one of my Birthday presents in a race ( I had tried it on a 100KM ride) a Zwift cog, so electroic shifting. Aslo another route badge for the tally. 151 racing so I figured a late night on booze 100th or so would be fine and if I was last well someone has to be and it might as well be me.

Well I hit the bottom of the hill in 83rd and figured I was going to just go backwards from then on in. Suprisingly then started to gap the people behind and overtook a few more on the way. Finished 68th on zwift overall , 53rd out of 101 on zwift power. Had not kicked the arse out of it so went and did a climb portal but only at endurance pace. Then I went and played with another present, Zwift steering controls on repack rush.

I liked the electronic shifting, bit disapointed that still got a huge power dip when changing gears uphill. The steering seemed a bit hit and miss one minute it hardly moved or not at all left or right next time it moved violently, when pairing the steerers they seemed to wink in and out so needs investigating I think its losing connectivity or its operator error.

I might have dreamt it but was there some chat recently about a Splitters (Cyclechat Zwift chatters) race? Before the good weather arrives for the ‘outdoor’ season? It’s always hard to beat the moaning about what the right time gaps are but sure it’ll be fun 🤐😀
You're not dreaming - it certainly has been mentioned by a couple of others in the past few weeks:

Not sure if we'll be doing it. Another Tour de Splitters would be nicer :becool:
I'm out of the league too since being upgraded, so (depending on when) I'd be up for being a Splitters league
I'm happy to organise another league, but I know we all have different preferences as to when we like to ride, so we might need to have a discussion around what times are best for everyone (perhaps each round is run twice if there's the demand?)

But the more important thing is getting larger numbers of people involved. Based on previous events it's very easy to get the A's and B's to sign up, but we do seem to lack motivation for the C's and D's, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as people like me (low C) who are usually keen to take part, suddenly become less keen when it's clear we're the back marker in every round and the next closest rider is a mid-B two miles up the road and you haven't seen another rider for 30+ minutes. So ideas are welcome on how we can make this a more inclusive event.

If everyone is racing at the same time, a Chase race might work?

That sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure I'm able to create a Chase race under the Clubs settings. I've checked and I can see where I can set it up to have separate categories and pens, but I think they'll still all go off at the same time.

Even if we could find a way, I think we'd still do the race based on everyone's times at the finish - it's not a team effort like a normal chase, just a way of setting off the lower ranking riders a few minutes before.
