Does that chart include the lead-in from the pens though? Officially the Eastern Eight Strava segment doesn't start until you reach the banner, which is 2.4km away from the pens, but that IS included in our scheduled distance.

It should do because I took it from the event where I rode it.

Zwift - Group A Ride: Tour of Watopia Stage 5: Longer Ride on Eastern Eight in Watopia

My charts are always based on an event (sometimes a private one done via a club) in order to get the exact distances from the start pens.

Your written on numbers for where climbs etc. start are definitely correct for our race, it's just that they don't match up with the scale at the bottom of the chart and the flat section at the start doesn't look quite long enough, which makes me think that the profile is taken from the Strava segment.

Here it is with the Eastern Eight segment highlighted. I can't explain the discrepancy, but I rarely look at the x-axis numbers anyway.
The starts and finishes of climbs, segments and abrupt downhills are the things I look out for.

Oh bollux - it turns out you're right, the "elevation graph" is mistakenly taken from the segment. I screenshat the wrong thing on my iPad, but the written distances are all as they should be (as those were taken on the right segment using computer). It's not worth redoing, just ignore the x-axis labels :surrender:

If the course started at the foot of the climb, I'd have been really tempted to ride on the TT bike... but I just don't think there's a chance of getting away early enough. And there are more of you, this time, so the chase should be more cohesive.

Big down after the climb will close the gap quite fast, plus a loooooong flat to the finish .. unlikely 1 will get away, but 2 or 3 might .... it's a sprinters climb too, unlike last week, so you may well drag a couple of us with you :hugs:

Hmm could definitely see a similar tactic emerge from @Legs here couldnt we! On a one off race though more likelihood of people working together.

Unless the likes of @bridgy @<Tommy> @berty bassett are racing in which case a small group will defo stay away!

I'd be racing tomorrow if I could but my son has another evening match so I woon't be able to make it unfortunately

I was feeling positive yesterday so I finally got around to entering this year's Tour of Cambridgeshire race.

Anyone else doing ToC?

I'm planning to do TOC Martin - a very much delayed entry that I got initially in 2019 for the 2020 event which of course never happened, and it's been pushed back repeatedly until this year. Are you doing the actual race version? (As oppose dto Gran Fondo or Sportive?)

Yep, the race version. It is likely to be faster than the GF equivalent - age group for me. Will probably stay at the Park Inn the night before.

If, like me, you get a bit narked by getting straight lines on Strava when you join a Pace Partner and it teleports you through space

you can use 'crop' in the desktop Strava site to nudge the start point of the activity

It won't refresh on your activity timeline for a while, but it will eventually. :okay:
