It's so interesting isnt it. Who knows how the froome thing will effect things (if he's selected!) And how fit he will be. Likewise dumoulin's form on return is still a questionmark, but with Bennet and kruijswijk there is finally a team with depth to rival ineos (and aren't Movistar!)

Bernal looks class though. I'd love to see him and carapaz together...if he wins the giro again he's bound to want a crack at the tour next year.

It would be a brave man that bets against an Ineos win at the tdf. I think you’ll get a good price though if you fancy a punt.

Honestly I think every tour since wiggins won, apart from when nibali won after froome crashed out, it’s looked nailed on.

Could be a very strange set of tours ... the guys who are doing well now over short tours may not have the legs for 3 weeks (ala Yates 2 years ago). May not be the 'fastest' who wins a tour this year, but the riders who can still turn the pedals in the 3rd week. Be nice to see a few surprises this year .... but probably won't happen

Good luck in c @steverob
Well I've set myself the lofty goal of finishing not last, so we'll see how that goes!

My ride yesterday was officially my first C race, but given it was a long one, I rode at my usual D pace regardless, although I did manage to hang on to the second C group on the road until the Aqueduct climb at least. According to the results, I finished 29th out of 33 based on time (would have been higher, but lost at least four places on the final Petit KOM climb), but was 32nd once you took Prime points into consideration.

Looks like the ride tomorrow is fast for 12km ish, then the little 400m climb followed by fast to the line. I'll be working hard off the line to get into that lead group and then hang on for dear life.

I wonder if we'll see a few sandbaggers and non ZP registered riders jumping on the race as it's in France? If so, could make things difficult I think and potentially blow the groups apart as C's try to hang on to Bs

The issue I had with the climb yesterday is that while the segment is only 400 metres in length, the road starts going upwards for a fair bit before the official start point (albeit in stages), so you're probably climbing for just under 1km and that was too long for me to be able to hang on to the pack I was with.
