(it's currently still only showing as low quality, but it should improve to HD within the hour)

Highlights:
8:30 - I start to lose the group, seemingly get back on briefly, but by 10:00 I'm toast and there's no way I can catch up again
15:55 - switched to @JLaw's view for the KOM finish
25:50 - switched to @JLaw's view for the Desert sprint
38:10 - I get caught by the two riders who have been chasing me down for the last ten minutes through the desert; join up with them to start catching Jeff and JB
47:00 - switched to @Joffey's view for the finish of the race (I catch JB and Jeff at probably about 47:50 but camera is still on leaders)
49:35 - final half mile between me, Jeff and JB (we let the other two race off ahead - not on ZP so they wouldn't affect the result)
I managed somehow to thread the needle between Jeff and JB in that sprint! I didn't want to overtake Jeff in case he needed the points to win, so tried to slow a little, but at the same time I had to keep enough power to hold off JB. It does look on screen as though JB might just have got me on the line, but the results say I held on by 0.082 seconds (and was 0.048 behind Jeff)

That was close!!! Good riding Steve!

My loss looked as pathetic on YouTube as it felt in real life

With us forcing JB to work hard today, he'll have to race with C next week. So there's no excuse for team cyclechat to place anywhere but 1, 2, 3.

I'm sure that I can cock that up and come 4th

Isn't it the jungle next week? Could a bike change to MTB be in order? Anyone ridden that course in a race before?

Was going to ask this question

https://zwiftinsider.com/king-of-the-jungle/

So the mountain bike much faster on the dirt as you could imagine but much slower on the tarmac and the jungle circuit is still a bit of a mix isn't it? Any experience?
The MTB put time into riders on road bikes in the jungle circuit - evening allowing for two bike swaps. I did it solo in a Cycling Ireland race and gained position. Now if a group of you did it...that would be like a train bulldozing the opposition with the draft effect from the group.
Only negative - I’ve moved to Apple TV and I think the menu to change bikes could be too fiddly but if I’m a laptop or tablet iPad then it’s doable with practice.

Another Monday series would suit me. I'd be interested in the @IrishAl one if it isn't too far on at this point but happy to go with the crowd.
Our league is now approaching round 3 of 6 with best 5 results counting. So perhaps you are better to wait if you want a bash at a full series.
I raced mY first IRL league race last night Having missed round 1 due to you know what 🏔

and I won!! Wooohooo! Innsbruck course. Usual cat B fayre - I attacked the group every legsnapper and whittle the group down to bring it down to 12 riders on the last last Creating for the run to the sprint. It was a cagey run in with no one trying anything. I noticed the aero helmets popup on riders so jumped and flicked my truck PU. Got it boom!

edit - can you tell I am pleased 😀?

I think it's 3 laps though? I know road to ruins makes sense to swop but didn't think jungle route was long enough of tarmac to make a difference

What happens after this IRL league finishes, Al? Is there another league series planned?

There's 1 more week to go on the DBR league, so it looks like it would be week 5 of the current league before any of us could move over without clashing with DBR.

I think most people want to find another league when DBR ends and it would be good to support you guys if the dates work.

We'll need to find something after Monday week, otherwise the massive growth in tactical race planning on here will take a huge nosedive!

Jungle loop is next (probably my least favourite course) - when all is updated I think I should be safe enough where I am in the league so I'm happy to purely domestique, try and help seal your second place on GC!
Jungle is a nightmare - 10-12 mins climbing each lap, and 3 laps

I climb better than Fagerli but not as well as Larsen. Just will blow everyone away with his B numbers but then, he can't catch us so he's no bother

Won't be many groups forming I wouldn't think on that circuit. Also, can't see many 'outsiders' joining as it's not a course many people like

Amazing. Simply amazing. The video makes to so clear that I was out of gas at the end.

So with JB in C next week, I guess we fight it out amongst ourselves and whatever random racer shows up in the lead group. BTW, it looks like we must have pushed JB hard today. Look at his HR relative to prior races.
I was thinking, that was an amazing and perfectly executed attack by Jeff ..... then saw you tieing up and I was shouting for you to keep pedalling and for Steve to hold off JB :hyper:

Very exciting finish :okay:

Yeah, but that's not that much of a surprise, given how far out you went from. Even I probably went a bit too early for the sprint - thought the banner was a lot closer to the bridges than it is, plus I knew I had to get a lead on JB as he's got more power - but you went a good ten seconds before me!

Proud that I managed to match JB every time he upped the pace though. My legs were like jelly afterwards.
If you guys think that was long ,.... I went from the climb out of the glass section  My sprint is rubbish so I had to go veeeerrrryyyyy long

One one of the Tour for all stages which went round the jungle loop, I started on the Mountain Bike and just went backwards from the start loosing over 100 places (It was a group ride) ... Then I hit the Jungle ... I could not believe how many places I made up, reeling in guys (AND GROUPS!) with a higher W/Kg effort than me ... It was enough of a demo for me to Jump back on My Ultimate when we hit the roads ... Yeah I lost a few places during the swap, but still finished the 'race' 25-30 positions above where I actually started. ...

Not sure how effective it would be in a race situation though, better in a group as the 20 seconds you loose doing the swap would be eaten up by the draft effect ... Perhaps the C's could Try it against the A's with the A;s on road bikes ....:whistle:
