I've got the Kickr v1 (Andy's old one) and have found that until it is warmed up it over-reports the power a fair bit. Once warmed, it seems pretty accurate compared to my vectors.
Hence I always use my vectors now. Unfortunately the power matching doesn't work well with SF, so I can't use ERG mode with them.
To be honest when I was doing my due diligence before buying my first power meter the Garmin vectors got very mixed reviews regarding power accuracy too. That’s not a dig at you Pete. Like bridgy says I have a rough idea about people from riding with them in the real world and it’s a good marker. But I think it highlights how tough it’ll be to make online cycling a balanced playing field for e sports. My turbo bike is built around a neo2T system. Maybe that will be next to be under the microscope. I don’t think any turbo / power meter is beyond questioning. I know my neo 1 read lower than both of my other power meters (power2max and quartz)
People in the same room using the same turbo? The neo seems to be the benchmark, but I’ve read that different neo’s give different power outputs 🤷♂️
Maybe you’re right bridgy in that if they do want E racing to become a big thing they’ll have to try as hard as possible to level the playing field. But I’m not sure if it’ll entirely filter down because it’ll still require everyone to have the same turbo (I assume)
