i agree with everything said in the string above. The bike I have on the turbo has external bearings and when I swapped the crank back to compact last week it was a struggle to get the non drive side off. The sweat must run down the seat tube.

Take the chain off and spin the crank. It should be smooth and rotate easily. If its stiff to spin, it wont help pedalling.

I run my fans at 30% off to one side, so all sweat, spilled drinks, land to the side of the bike not on the BB

yeah even without taking the chain off this is what I’d do. It should be pretty easy to see if it’s not spinning freely. You can do a side by side comparison with your new bike to compare. I doubt you’ve lost 20 watts but obviously the cleaner your drive train the less resistance.

When I had my tarmac on the turbo I took to cleaning the sweat off with wet wipes after every session. You can get them right into the bb area and using both hands move it back and fourth around the cranks. I also put tape over the stem cap and bottle cage bolts. If you keep the bike in good condition it’s easy to see which parts need attention and where sweat pools.

I looked at the sweat covers that attach from the stem and seat post. But they don’t protect the bb area or the drivetrain in general.

I have a sweat cover on my bike from the seat post to the handlebars,I can ring it out after a good ride,I think it stops the sweat running down the crossbar and down tube to the bottom bracket

I was start to think that again and what you said is a good point like Tommy said. It also protect ahead set as well. But it also depend on type of bottom bracket, if it's press fit then i don't think sweat can penetrate in a bearings if they are inside of a shell.

One of the appealing things about the Tacx bike was that it’s basically a big hulk of plastic which is easy to keep clean.
Had they been faster to market I'd have bought that rather than the NEO2, but the constant waiting 'forced' me to get the NEO2. When I need to replace the NEO then I'll def get a stationary bike type of trainer.
