What I think this shows is the huge importance of pushing REALLY hard at key moments rather than overall average watts in these races. In this one I think it was the start and that first hill 3 miles in. I did push hard at the start, but could probably have done a bit more, and I definitely could have dug deeper on that first hill. So although I did average quite high watts (for me), the finish time is mostly affected by those key moments when the pack splits into groups, and whether or not you can get yourself into the faster group.

Easier said than done though, and the race dynamics may be different on Thursday so genuinely no guarantee I can do any better. And you were flying - 4 w/kg! I don't think I can't do 4 w/kg for 40 minutes however hard I try!

It was tough stage-1 46:47 was my time, that was little bit better than year ago in ToW, so now i ride my personal best and lot of new pb segments. I had a visual contact to @Aleman too.
@Aleman Did no one explain the rules? You have to take your most recent time for the league  It's a shame, as your time of 49:02 today is much slower than your 42:28 yesterday   Did you stop for a pint on the way round today

@Aleman mentioned something about pootle today, probably enjoyed all the attractions side of a route ^_^. I had a huge progress if i compare my todays result to last year results. Time was now 46:47 and last year it was 46:55 but avg power was today 225w and last year it was 265w. All what i can say is thank you Bkool for your kindness:headshake:.

That's right Juha - technical difficulties .....I tried pairing my vectors to Zwift via my Kickr. It worked ok when I did that last week, but today after 5 mins, the power would drift down to 0 before kicking in again (although it stayed fine on the garmin I had running alongside). By the time I had paired the vectors directly to Zwift I'd lost a fair bit of time, so decided to try again at 6pm :training:.

I did see both @Norry1 and @CXRAndy out on the course though - good luck guys!

Nasty moment for a technical problems. It’s a small relief that there is still few days left of this stage-1. Probably need a few flawless rides before you can find trust better your devices.

42.02. Very pleased with that. I managed to hold 4 w/kg for the first 5 minutes which got me in a decent group and about 170th of 1400. I felt strong throughout and set some best ever power PBs.

Feels a bit like a long awaited breakthrough as I have been in a plateau for a long time. Is it as simple as the glute recruitment I mentioned?
