I'm another martial arts 'other' - kung-fu is mine, specifically southern Shaolin style with a touch of Chinese kickboxing. I also used to do judo for around 8 years and also knackered my knees... a couple of years of aikido too.

I also play badminton and indoor football, though less than I used too and don't play outside at all now (result of the knee thing again), and I go solo expedition canoeing when I can.

Can we have a competition to see who has had the most knee ops! Does this count as a sport ;)

I don't really do 'sport' not in the organised sense anyway. I'm not that competitive really. But, other past times I have other than cycling are hillwalking/mountain climbing (in all its forms except rock/ice climbing, although I love a good scramble), a tiny bit of canoeing, surfing and occasional sailing. Not organised team games though, i prefer the great outdoors.

I like watching the old footy. I'm a Luton Town supporter....always have been...always will be. I like most sports though, athletics, motorsport, raquet sports....even snooker and darts.
I used to modify Japanese sports cars until earlier this year when I gave it all up as I wasted so many thousands of punds on cars it was unreal. I like getting out on walks and visiting places.....generally being active.
I might start up an exercise plan involving cycling, swimming and running = triathlon.

It depends; 100km in a day (which is what I did in April) strikes me as more akin to sport than golf or driving a car.

Well, cricket is my no. 1 favourite (although alas, I no longer play) so cycling is my no. 2.
Played a lot of table tennis as a kid, then rugby for 20-odd years; nowadays it's cycling, golf and skiing.
Want to learn how to windsurf.

How do you get from Table Tennis to Rugby?

<mind begins to daydream>

One day, I just put down my paddle and thought, time for a scrum!

In fact I would have to say my favourite sport is probably poker.

The scene is a anonymous casino.

"I'll see you", says the guy across the table.

"I win" says Bonj.

"oh yeah, let's see your cards then"

Bonj: "no, just take it from me, I win."

"Cards. Table. Now"

Bonj: "okay, okay - here you go."

"But you haven't got anything!"

Bonj: "I think you'll find that this hand beats anything"

"But there's nothing in it"

Bonj: "It beats yours"

"But I've got a royal flush"

Bonj: "oh, and where does it say that wins?"

"In the rules of poker"

Bonj: "oh yeah? Where are they then?"

"You could look them up on the internet"

Bonj: "I can't be bothered"

"Ok, here's a rulebook, look them up"

Bonj: "I know what the rules are."

'here's the exact page. Look!"

Bonj: "why should I believe that book, it's published in Oxford. What do they know about Poker?"

The entire casino then throw bonj into the nearest river. Of course the Wild West version is a lot shorter and involves bonj being fatally wounded before he even gets into the Casino, in a dispute about whether you should ride horses or not... ;)

Agreed on that one, I havent done 100k in one hit for a couple of years, the last time was on the Highland Way, 24 hours of non stop rain and pain.;)

Best day of my life!!:sad::biggrin:

Theres a good program "Mountain" Griff Rhys Jones if you need some inspiration.

I must admit this pastime has taken a bit of a backseat since I moved to Suffolk!!
