First camping trip out post divorce.....

Bike was at me parents so didn't have much time to settle it (I didn't because I was distracted by the boot screen fiasco)

Nice trip down to Poole over the chain ferry, lunch at old harry rocks.

Rode through Swanage as seeing lots of families wasn't going to help me😢

Just outside Swanage I noticed a scraping noise. The brake pad was so low it was down to steel. Put front pads on back and brakes with rear only to Weymouth.

Past the firing ranges flags flying but signs saying open!🤔

Tall wind all the way to Weymouth but followed the signs to town centre, big mistake it was a large busy truck road and the cycle path was the other sized. Managed to get in it just before the town centre.

Speaking of which it's a dive! Really is the worst sea side resort I've been too recently Blackpool of the south!

Weatherspoons for pint and tea, a burger couldn't be bothered to move onto better or dish and chips!
Double cheese burger wasn't bad tbh.

Panic ensued as all the campsites were closed but one kind chap opened up early for me.

£20 but he did it for £15.

Pint of cider in the black dog nearby as a welcome reward. Cleat fell off on the walk to the pub! Will try and fix otherwise will ride home without cleats.

Note to self replace with dual spd flat pedals.

All in all a good day with a few teething issues!!

Weybiza is a bit crumby, but I recently had one of my motorbikes repaired there and had lunch at Marlboro fish & chip shop, excellent and I couldnt finish it.

Nice and sunny although wind definitely wasn't as light as forecast, quite a slog outbound. 43miles and 3200ft climbing, found it tough today.

Lovely weather, today, after yesterday's 🍃 🍃
I had a few things to do like drop a book off at a mates, drink espresso at a Brazilian friends new house & take some stuff to a charity shop..

It seemed rude to ride past my favourite ice cream factory parlour without testing the product!

10 easy miles on the first outing this year for my British Eagle Touristique 🦅

Today was supposed to be an enjoyable collection of utility quests on the Fuji, however pretty much the only actual achievement realised was just getting out on the bike.. The shopping list included:

1. Bother charity furniture shop(s) in Abingdon and Oxford - fail (nowt worth having)
2. Buy some incense off the market as it smelled good last time I passed - fail (too late / stall not there this week)
3. [Side quest] Buy sausages - fail (too late, sausage cupboard bare)
4. Buy spray bottles for household cleaning - win!

As usual it was good to get out but I was already pretty knackered, forsaked the usual caffeine and had low-level run-ins with an example of seemingly every other type of road user.

I did get in about 34.5 miles though which is a fair ride for me as things stand; placing me on about 95 miles for this week / 111 for the rolling seven days; which again is the most I've done for quite a while..

Had a 40+ mile route planned this Morning. Until both riding buddies bailed last night 🤷‍♂️

So took the mutt for a nice strut instead early doors. And then headed back out on the 22” BMX - for my weekly pilgrimage to the LBS for parts, a yarn; and today: some advice.

A very short ride. But only appropriate to stop and thank the Lord for Health to enjoy all fun had on 2-wheels 😉

Had a great Friday Night Ride to the Coast; London to Shoreham-by-Sea, a familiar route and lots of familiar faces made it a great ride. Dry too, but a little chilly with temps dipping close to 4 degrees early in the ride at Chipstead Valley. Bracing also on the exposed elevations from Turners Hill to Handcross.

No exploding derailleurs this time, and when the morning came - announced first by early departures from Gatwick and a line of orange-tinged clouds to the East, the majesty of a spring morning was revealed. Still some daffs in gardens, but tulips too, dandelions in the verges, woodland bristling with bluebells and wild garlic; their smells hanging in the air. Life was good!

2nd breakfast was delayed whilst the Port Kitchen sorted themselves out; a miscommunication about our arrival time? Some muttered and may their way elsewhere; I suspect McDonalds had a visit; I stayed, it wasn't long to wait.

I'd prefixed the Fridays ride with a few extra miles into London from home, and then riding the Downslink back up to Surrey; probably 20-30 miles of gravel, and a lot of that quite rocky & bumpy; so by the end of it I was feeling pummelled. Bruising to the sitbones area; aching wrists/ankles/knees, but muscles not feeling too bad; I gauged my food/drink intake well.

But oh my God, the Downslink seemed to last forever. And it's appallingly signposted in places; particularly Henfield, where my Garmin took over and suggested a very scenic route that I didn't think I could cycle.

The stats: 218.67 km , 1,5885m of ascents, 12 hours of cycling. Also added 32 squares to my veloviewer cluster.
My longest ride of all time!
