Location
Here and there
Near Cassis - east of Marseille. A superb place to visit. Cycling limited to three options

1. Downhill at speed wishing I had disc brakes.
2. Uphill slowly wishing I had an e-bike.
3. Uphill slowly ruining my cleats by walking.

A pootle out to Shiplake today via Sonning, along the Thames path

Had a chat with a fella on the same route, he was on a Brompton. Pretty hard going on my MTB, what with the lumpy and bumpy paths, so fair play to him.
This time last year it seemed to rain every day - the Thames path was unrideable for me on many sections due to mud and flooding.
This year complete opposite, bone dry and a joy to be out and about.

As posted in the training thread, I rushed home from work last night to take advantage of the extra light and the mild evening well it was mild enough for sleeves and shorts with knee warmers, until I stopped to take a few pics. I resisted the urge to stop earlier and capture the more impressive scenes and didn't stop until I got close to home. I got frost bite taking these.

It was quite windy but a warmish wind.

I'm glad I only went out for a short walk tonight and not another ride as the wind now has a Northerly element and its 🥶

'Only' 25 miles today but included a ride up a local hill called white horse bank...a real killer so well pleased for getting up it. First time on my latest bike.

I did notice that, according to my watch, my heartbeat peaked at only 143. It has before peaked at 153 so maybe I took it easier than I thought.

Headed out on a club run. Only the second so far this year and third time I've donned the lycra, despite getting a good number of rides in.
Still had the legs to partake in the sprint at the end. I lost 10 seconds compared to the fastest rider over the last 3.5km. On my alu gravel bike, with mudguards etc. weighing in at almost 16kg. And I'm quite chuffed at that.

We stopped at the end of the ride for coffee and cake at what happens to be my nearest LBS. As I'm checking the stats, seeing that I bagged a load of PRs, I find myself eyeing up the £6.5k Scott Addict something or other that's on display and thinking that'd do.

I'll just keep telling myself I'd use if for one summer before I got bored of cleaning due to all the cr4p on the roads.

I wonder how many bikes the LBS manages to sell like that.
