3 up ride today
we had planned to stop at about 34 miles from the meeting point but one rider had a terminal freehub failure at about 29 miles, luckily we only a few mins walk from market bosworth hall so legged it to the cafe there and had coffee and cake whilst their partner came to collect her .In a way it was good it failed as i also noticed the front thru axle was hanging out a good inch !
2 of us then rode on to complete the ride for 55 miles planned making it 66 miles for me although i could have done with topping up my bottle as i was gasping by the end .
Yup im the midget !!, folk dont like it when we hit a hill and i stand as im a lot lighter than most i ride with ;)

Got a little rain towards the end but got back before it hammered it down.

A wee blast on the mtb this morning. 😀
Little trail nearby.
Met Oscar and hubby out for walkies.
Not been out with the dog since he was a pup.
Did a couple of loops and he got the hang of it, stopped jumping up and mouthing.
He really seemed to enjoy it. 👍🏼
More practice required though.

A 15 mile spin that of course included the Warren! Didn’t see a soul last Monday, lots of people out and about this evening.

Mullein moth caterpillar, hare and a massive buzzard were the highlights.

Riding back along the single track road at the side of the river was a Chelsea tractor that couldn’t reverse…..

I got out after work for a ride, over to Dad’s in the pleasantly warm conditions. I used the Carbon, even though the gears are still troublesome and the new shifters are needed, with it only being a short ride.

Usual route to dads via Hook a Gate and Annscroft, then half an hour chatting with him, sat outside. He’d been for his monthly cancer treatment and so was glad of a chat.

I set back out and the skies over Church Stretton were as black as night and a thunderstorm was definitely brewing. Thankfully it didn’t catch me up on the journey back home via Condover and Betton Abbots. A check of the rain radar upon reaching home confirmed it had been a big storm and downpour, but it had headed north east towards Telford thankfully.

14.9 miles at 14.0mph avg, which is a rarity for me to reach that average.

I had a day off today, before heading off on my cricket club tour tomorrow and so I took the opportunity to get a morning ride in, before packing, etc, needed doing.

It was a hot and very muggy morning, as I set out along the cycle paths to Heathgates and then through Sundorne, where a BMW driver decided to bully their way through, despite it being my right of way and forcing an emergency stop. Your gesture of thanks was NOT appreciated.

I then joined the old canal path and onto roads to Uffington and Upton Magna. The biggest issue by now was the amount of insects who were out having a party in the heat!

I climbed up East Haughmond and then enjoyed the descent to Somerwood and Rodington Heath, before turning back along the narrow lane to Upton Magna again, from the other direction. A couple of hazards along here, 1 being a flood in the usual place, which was a Sandy mess as well and then a chicken in the road as I rounded a corner!

From Upton Magna I took the Pelham Road to Berwick Wharf and then out onto the busy road to Atcham, across the bridge and along the lane to Cross Houses. Next was the lane to Berrington and proper insect city along there, before heading for King Street and Betton Abbots.

There was a forecast of potential thunderstorms from 1pm, which it now was and there were some black clouds forming as I got back home.

22.05 miles at 13.7mph avg.

The storms never came…

Another fab event in Lowestoft this weekend. Becoming quite the thing ! So me and the wife cycled there, through the crowds and to ‘Armed Forces Day 2023’

I was supposed to go on a group ride with some like-minded individuals on the Dawes Kingpin today, unfortunately I couldn’t go, so I went for a little pootle on my own. I popped to Sainsbury to buy some sundry items, then went home via Blewbury and stopped on the way back for a sandwich and a cup of tea at Savages farm shop. A smidge under 10 miles.
