Thanks. The wind didn't seem too bad to start with. Possibly it was pushing against that which pulled the knee.

I think I'll just have to rest a bit as it doesn't hurt walking round - only on the bike.
bummer mate....19 miles for me between 4hrs in the gym....had a right peanut tailgating me this morning on a stretch of road that has those lit up bollards advising dangerous...i always ride primary on them he took great exception...and shouted something when i let him past...had he stopped i would quite gladly hav knocked him clean out

Do I need to get the spray plaster out?
School was cancelled today it was dull, grey and windy most of the morning which turned into dull, grey, windy and very wet by the time we got home we went for *mumble mumble don't keep track* miles.

Across the local recreation ground to the path that leads to the Country Park and down to the beach

Only Maj was silly enough to swim

It's just one of those things.

Dunno if it's the same in your area but the standard of driving doesn't seem to have been great since about when the schools went back.

A strange riding day yesterday. I train'd over to Newcastle on a cheap advanced- booked ticket. The intention was to see how long it would take me to get too and from the University (I start a six week evening course in November) well it took 14 minutes from inside the station to reach where the classes will be held. Then I pottled round the Exhibition park and round the town moor, down to the Leazis park. Non of which I had been near in fifty years. Then past the RVI and back to the Uni. It took twelve minutes to get back to the main part of the station. Strange bit of conjunction here. My class finishes at 19:00, the train leaves at 19:25 (or I have to wait until 21:18) That is twenty five minutes to unfasten the bike load the pannier and lights, get to the station and cross over to the furthest away platform, I think I will have three minutes to spare.
After the station, I pottled along Scotswood road, Never thought I would see tree's on that road, in my time they would have been cut up and burnt. Back along the riverside, where the factories used to be and to the "Hub" thinking it was a bike shop but it turned out to be a cafe and bike hire shop and very few customers around.
Back to the Millennium Bridge crossed it and went down river to the Urban farm, was ready to turn back when I seen signs for the Angel of the North. Now I have only seen photos and television clips of the Angel, so I followed the signs towards it for a good while but as it was getting on I decided to cut my losses and headed back the way I had come but got misplaced . Eventually after crossing the Heworth interchange I found the river trail again and made my way back to the Central station. Of course I had to wait for an hour and a half to catch the train I was booked on. Lesson here, the tickets might be cheap but the wait is often long. (two advanced singles with a railcard £2.65 each or open return £12.40 with railcard)
Now my curiosity is aroused. Does any one know a good circular ride from Newcastle (or the Metro Center) that visits the Angel?

Just 18 miles this morning around some familier lanes. Sunny, chilly and a bit of a wind from the north east. I’d been on the A259 30 seconds before the first numpty incident…tooting franticly and leaning over into the passenger seat and shouting something at me…moron. Then a minute later a lorry passed within millimetres…I was pleased to get off than dam road into the countryside.

I headed up and over Steyning bostal hill and had a little ‘pootle’ around. I decided against going far as I was cold without a base layer and I headed back.

Bike now covered in cow poo …

And do they work? I seem to recall that braking was never the best point on my old junior Kingpin

They work better because they have new modern brake shoes on.

nice photos bb....looks lovely where you are

Thanks...it is beautiful just inland from where I am. I dont bother posting pics of the coastal road A259 as it's just not nice, but after 20 minutes on that Im in some of the best countryside riding I have seen in the UK. I had a great summer riding through just West and East Sussex and a bit of kent.

A fasted 50 miler into Glasgow today with a supposed tailwind. It must have been mostly i suppose because i was quicker than usual for less effort but it did feel more like a crosswind a lot of the time. This was my first ride after flipping the stem to a more aggressive position. It felt ok generally and a bit more aero in the drops but more quirky steering wise. I was feeling quite tired today so it was mostly endurance with a bit of tempo along the "Kippen flats". I've been timing myself on a 12.5 mile stretch (the out part of a local 25mile TT route) and today i was quicker due to the tailwind on that section for considerably less effort than on previous occasions. I just didn't have the legs today for TT pace (been doing some turbo sessions this week). A few days off the bike now for a family holiday.
