Inspired by Hip Priest's TT post , I tried to get a 20mph avg on my TT route. I failed! 19.18 alas. Blocked road due to roadworks and various traffic holdups put paid to my chances. Think I'll leave it for a while. Taking my bike on holiday at the weekend, so I'm hoping to get some longer rides than usual in at a slower pace.

Too add^^^^^^^
I had to adjust the tension the rear mech A touch halfway around my route last night as I noticed it was needing a little bit of movement past the "click" on the upshifts, about half-3/4 of a turn on the thumbscrew fine-tuned it out.

Shifting like a dream now

Lightning stops play!
Went out about 4.30 this afternoon, intending to take advantage of the late afternoon sunshine, and head over my regular route up the Brisbane Glen from Largs to Loch Thom, Inverkip, and back to Largs. It looked menacingly dark up the Brisbane Glen, so a change of plan was called for. Jumped on the Millport ferry as it looked bright over there and I thought I might get a couple of 10 mile laps of the island done.

As I got back to the ferry slip after lap 1, I could see the storm closing in quite spectacularly with the lightning in the distance cutting through the black clouds. I still had sunshine! Being a bit of a coward when it comes to being out in lightning on a flat island, I decided to abandon the second lap and get the ferry back to Largs.

Good decision for once! I am just in the door and it has started chucking it down with rain. The odd rumble of thunder too, but so far I can't see the lightning. Unfortunately no pics today; if I had managed to get one of a lightning bolt I would have been well pleased.

Edit.... Friend in Greenock tells me it's been really bad up there, 14 miles from here. Flooding, and a house along the road from him has been badly damaged by fire after a lightning strike. On BBC website now.

Just a quick "burn off the crisps and chocolate bar I had for lunch" pedal along the river with Mr6 this evening - between showers.
I'm trying to do a minimum of 10 miles a day to keep my weight in check.
Negotiating the tight bends at the end of the cycle path and I put my foot down for balance, got an almighty cramp in my calf and ended up almost going over the fence in a very unladylike manner. Bike ended up on the floor (mr6 tried to catch it but I almost kicked him in the face dismounting) and I hopped around a bit.
Then I had a kitkat from the co-op so it sort of defeated the object anyway.
hey ho.
On a serious note - I keep getting this cramp thing when I put my foot down, any ideas??

Final race of my rather tiring 2 week stint of racing Sat, Mon, Thu, Sat, Mon, Thu (6 races in 13 days)!

This time an evening open 10TT on a quick-ish dual carriageway course (J7/8R) near Crewe (on the A500). Time: 21:38 (27.7 mph average), placed 7th (I think), was a little disappointed with the time tbh, was 10W down on my normal 10TT power (that would equate to about 15 seconds and about 2-3 places using some guestimation) but that is probably due to the frequency I have been racing these last 2 weeks, can't keep battering yourself and not expect to build up some fatigue, time for some rest and a mental refresh now, 3 days of very easy riding then lets plan the back end of the season where I can hopefully get another run of good results!

I Have managed to climb/conquer "Killer Hill" twice on the trot this week...14% for a mile, usually I've had to stop and walk a bit but now I am doing it in one...Although I do sound like a steam train doing it.

Feels great when you get to the top and start accelerating back through the gears again.

Took the short way home from work with the intention of going straight out for a decent ride. I checked fb however, before I went and a mate said he was going out a little later so I joined him instead. It was such a lovely evening however, I cruised down the long way to meet him and two others. He asked if I had a route in mind so I made an adlib one

On a serious note - I keep getting this cramp thing when I put my foot down, any ideas??
I get cramp if I pedal with the middle of the foot sometimes rather than the clip (just behind the ball); the simple solution for me is to clip in.
