Old Plodder

Living at the top of a steep 2 mile climb
First ride out on my new Rapid 4- loved it- newest bike I've ever owned and managed a solo 19.7 miles with 1700 ft of climbing, need to get used to road gearing now but what a bike- I'm currently a very happy bunny right now  (did I mention I was chuffed with my new bike?)
Road bike gearing in Cornwall, I hope you're fit. ^_^

today's ride was on the tube, as it has been for the last 4 weeks. I hate working at client site! How can Canary Wharf hold 80 gazillion people but only have 850 bicycle parking spots?

had a nice 39 mile ride today weather was great for time of year, little chilly to begin with but i will remember this ride for a strange incident.while riding through a local village i heard something snap and then right infront of me a squirrel dropped from above no more than a few feet away, fell out of a tree i almost had a heart attack:ohmy: however the squirrel was fine and ran off.and there was no other cars about so no harm done was freaky though

Fifty three miles at 14.8mph through the flatlands of North and East Yorkshire starting at Selby and passing through Bubwith and stopping at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor where the first pie purchase was made before pressing onto Market Weighton where at last I shared the same grid references with an open pie shop where the second pie purchase was made before pressing on to Pocklington for a pie sharing with a pal. In between Holme-on Spalding Moor and Market Weighton I was treated to the spectacle of some Eurofighters having a dog fight overhead.

Having eschewed the pie shop at Bubwith on the way out I headed back via Melbourne and Seaton Ross discovering an undredged section of the Pocklington canal serviced by a restored lock. Was disappointed to find that the butchers in Bubwith were out of standard pork pies so I had to console myself with a stand pie, as yet, uneaten. A cracking afternoon out all in all, warm, sunny and pie aplenty.

Wasn't feeling up to much but I headed out anyway. I thought 30 miles would do but as I got going I decided to do a bit more. 52 smiles in the end. That cold north wind played havoc with my energy levels towards the end. Magically the grey clouds dissipated and I finished the ride with :sun:and blue skies. Farmers are dragging mud out onto the roads and the hedges are being cut again. But it's all good ^_^

I still haven't been on bike since I fell off the ladder a week Monday. Will I remember how to ride? I've still got a very hurty leg.

Way too nice not to go out, was supposed to be a lunchtime ride but ended up doing a lazy 43 miles and of course had to take just the odd picture
This is looking up to Cold Overton my first 1 mile gentle climb

Not often you see Silver Birch by the roadside but there are a few in this area

Finally this wonderful sandstone church in Eastwell is one I pass often but just looked amazing in the sun today

51 miles, 5,500ft climbing. Classic Snake Pass-Strines-Holme Moss loop.........in shorts!

Nagging Easterly all day though which made the direct East outbound hard and the inbound is sort of North West and then South West so never really feel the tailwind benefit.

Completely knackered by Holme Moss so a real painful crawl up that. Still plenty of snow on the tops from about 3 weeks ago. Legs feeling v tired today. Felt like I misjudged pre ride eating (doorstopper roast pork sandwich probably not a good idea) so wasn't usual self. Going to give it another go this weekend as weather too nice not to

10m round Fairburn, plenty of other cyclists out all going the other way, my timing must be out as always. about 16mph paying for yesterdays 19mph. Wish I had never bought my longs as always seems to hot for them when I am out. On a plus point my cobbled together headset ( old one went notchy without much warning, so have put one together using old bits so is it a tanpag?) seems smooth enough, but still ordered new Tange Levin to replace it. This was the one I fitted originally 30 years ago so glad they still make them.
