A slightly cut down version of yesterdays route, but a little bit more effort, saw me back out again, woo 2 days in a row. Very windy and wet but I was out

Yesterdays image didn't look like October, today's certainly does.

Had a great ride on Sunday with 12 mates, Went out Essex way around the Rodings, managed 92 miles, that covered the Strava Grand Fondo easily. the cafe we were supposed to have a bit of lunch in had closed down, so we headed of towards the nearest pub, where we all enjoyed one of the best breakfast's ever.
20141005_125938.jpg Washed down with a nice cup of tea, First time in a pub and never had a beer, I think we will be using more pubs for lunch in the future. Really nice day not to bumpy, We had the normal pub stop at the end of the ride, i did sink a couple of pints.

I went out this morning. It was raining a little. I got damp. Then it rained more. I got wet. And cold. After 19 miles I decided I'd had enough and came home. Autumn is definitely here.
No riding for 2-3 weeks for me now, off to hospital for a minor op which means nothing 'strenuous' for a bit (maybe a gentle ride would be OK...I suspect SWMBO would disagree:smile:).
Guess I'll put the new N+1 together then:smile::smile:
All the best with the op

A bonus ride that I never thought I would get in today! Woke up to the dreadful weather that was passing through, with heavy rain and winds strong enough to topple a 4 ft stone pinnacle from a church in Shrewsbury and half a tree at work, that blocked the fire escape!

As the day went on the weather got slowly better and when I finished a work meeting early, not far from where i live, I decided sod going back to work, I'm going out for a ride^_^

There was hardly a cloud in the sky and little or no wind and so I decided on shorts and a jacket and it was the perfect choice, with warmth in the sun still there!

The ride started out very annoyingly though. I had been riding for about 1 minute and came to the point where I needed to cross the main road into the estate. There is not a pelican crossing, but there is a refuge in the middle of the road, with dropped kerbs and it is a 30 mph limited road that often queues way back. Today was no different and as I reached the crossing point the cars were moving about 1 car length at a time. 1 car moved just past the crossing and so the ideal thing for the woman in the silver roller skate (sorry Toyota Aygo) to do would have been to let me cross, but oh no, she looked at me as she decided to speed up, almost stuff her car up the back end of the one in front and completely block my path. I was bloody seething and so squeezed my bike around the back of her car and onto the central refuge. She was still not going anywhere and so I stood there at her window and gave her a loud volley of my thoughts, something along the lines of her being an ignorant cow who needs to open her eyes. She purposely refused to make eye contact with me, as she knew she was in the wrong and so I parted with a few more choice words and cycled through the estate. She must have a miserable life having to live with being such a stupid cow :cursing:

I headed down to the old canal path, which was a bit dicey due to the wind having brought loads of leaves down and the rain having turned them into a carpet of mulch:eek:

Incident avoided I continued to Uffington and Upton Magna, climbed up Haughmond Hill and down the lovely Somerwood straight, into Rodington.

I had a quick stop to put my lights on, due to the sun getting low in the sky and pressed on to Longdon on Tern and Isombridge. There was a fair bit of water on the lanes around there and a wide load has been down there, churning up the verges and so it was a muddy mess which wasn't particularly pleasant.

It got better again as I cruised to Withington, Upton Magna and retraced my steps home.

Despite the anger at the start of the ride I did enjoy it and it took me past 1500 miles on the bike this year.

20.5 miles at 12.6mph avg

On Saturday I rode the Tasty Cheddar Audax from Bristol with 3 mates. The very damp conditions didn't deter many riders with approx 200 starting the event.

A great route with controls at Portishead, Cheddar & Hinton Blewitt. The final control is the Nova Scotia pub on the Harbourside

Must remember to fit mudguards next time ......

Just a damp short commute today with a stop at Trumpington Waitrose to stock up on food as my Doctor told me I shouldn't really loose any more weight(I'm just under 6 ft and currently weigh 11st)so lots of rice puddings, pasta salads and other stuff to build myself up:laugh:.Otherwise everything else is hunky dory and all this cycling hasn't affected my psa levels and cholesterol, sugar and other things are all going down so I enjoyed the bottle red with the other half last night even more.

Did about 15 miles in warm sun in SW France. Didn't take any food but had fresh figs and walnuts off roadside trees and filled the water bottle at a spring. The county roadmenders are busy laying down oceans of fresh gravel, had to be careful in places.
A good day, even the hideous house I passed is starting to merge into the landscape and I passed through a lively little village that 20 years ago was all but abandoned. Lovely to see it come back to life.

A gorgeous, if somewhat chilly, 18.5 miles this morning.
Hubby kindly said I could try a top he had got ages ago, but never worn.
It's a technical (rugby) top....and having tried it out, it's perfect for cycling!
I have now commandeered it

Anyway, on to the ride.
Priscilla behaved brilliantly, the gears dropped when they should have, without issue, and it made for a fantastic ride :wahhey:

I rode down to the Kelpies and Lock 1.
No camera today but I had my phone, so standby for the photos!

I met some friends...

Then I headed up to the Falkirk Wheel....

And I stopped for a drink and a cereal bar and watched as some geese flew overhead...

Then I took a selfie...

Then cycled back the way I had come for a change....and I met this fellow, fishing for his breakfast...

I have had lunch and a hot shower.
Could life get any better? I think not!
