Old Plodder

Living at the top of a steep 2 mile climb
........Within the first mile I had been scalped by some skinny 20 year old on a fixie, so I kicked a bit and drafted him for a mile or so. Nice bum so worth the extra effort.........and there I was, 2 stone overweight, glowing like a pig, and in lycra in front of the hottest bloke in Norfolk. Bum
That'll teach you not to go chasing nice bums.

I had the day of work yesterday so decided to strip my bike down and clean/grease parts etc. The bike was nice and clean until todays ride.

I’d seen the weather forecast, which said rain by 10.00 am so I decided on an early start, 7.00 am. I decided to do my usual 75 km Mickle Trafford circuit. The weather was cool, 10c, and cloudy.

Still no sign of the rain but it was nice to be out early. Now it’s time to clean the bike, again!

I got out early this morning to avoid the worst of the rain, it didn't quite go to plan. The weather as I left home was ok, 5 minutes later I discovered that my rain jacket is as waterproof as a tea bag, I couldn't get any wetter so carried on to the start of the group ride. 16 miles down and most of the club had decided to stay in bed. All planned rides cancelled and a couple of make it up rides organised.

I didn't fancy the rides so did a loop of some hills with a newbie to the group and then headed the 16 miles home. Total of 44 miles at a disappointing 15mph average. Still all miles help and I was glad I got out.

Good to see the sun make an appearance as I got home.

Just spotted that I achieved a new top speed of 45.2 mph

Thanks again for a really nice afternoon out loafer. It was great to meet your gf too. It's great how you gave me some pointers on how to deviate from/extend/shorten the ride, too, as it gives me some ideas for exploring later. It made such a difference having the advantage of your local knowledge, too. I feel like I live in a really great place for cycling now!

First proper ride in 2 weeks, felt great. Got a +30kmph pace in too, which i'm quite happy with considering it was a bit windy and it was a solo ride.

Usual home to hospital route with no extra loops added on as I didn't realise how late it was. I looked at the kitchen clock and it was half 8 so thought that I had better get a wiggle on.
8.3 miles in 33:21 I didn't really hurry. My 'out' time was longer as my hamstring decided to cramp up so I got off the bike, then my calf cramped up and once that was sorted out both my feet cramped and I couldn't get back on the bike. Felt a right numpty.

Having a couple of days off the bike now as we are off to Devon in the caravan until Tuesday afternoon.

A nice inbetween showers 30miler yesterday, got lucky with the weather, it thrased it down all morning then stopped for a bit, I managed to hit it when the sun came out and get back just before it thrashed it down again! Contemplating doing another one today but I'm not sure my legs can take it (it would be my 4th ride in 16 years) - tomorrow instead then!
