I was a firefighter 1981-2011.

The last few years of it I drifted into care work , mainly beside my wife at first.
Then in 2011 I started with a mental health care provider.
Only as a relief worker.

Decided recently to retire properly, but have started some voluntary work which combines a bit of the care role with cycling.

I make yacht sails.

I also like to make multi coloured musettes with left over cloth and give them away.

Anyone done stainless steel polishing?
I worked for a mate in the mid nineties when i was quiet one winter.
Polishing bull bars for Land Rover.
My good god what a filthy job, i was cleaing my eye lids with cotton buds!!
But i enjoyed making a grey ugly bit of metal look like a beautiful mirror finish work of art.

I wont miss looking like a man who's been down a coal pit after work though.. I'm not even sure you could do the polishing with a mask..

background is tech support, my current job is supposed to be Information Management (Data protection etc), however we're used as a rent a department for things no one else wants to do, so so far away from where i want to be so much so, ive decided to jack it next year and go back to college and gain some up to date qualifications

I find bugs in computer programs. The system I work on evolved over 25 years with very little design or documentation. When a customer raises a log I have to try and decide if the system is doing what it's supposed to do or if it's a bug.

I spend ages sitting around waiting for calls to come through. I have to keep reminding myself that there are people on zero hours contracts who would love to be paid to sit around and do nothing.

I should add I have not had a job for 43 years and before that I had 32 in less than 4 years.
If you’ve been doing paid work, surely that’s the definition of a job / employment
Assume you don’t fix the dents for free? If so, when are you free? Do you refurb wheels for free too?
