And Saturday ambling around the garden, look up to see an unfamiliar bird. Smaller than a buzzard and wings and tail all wrong but looked like raptor. Not a kite either (never seen one here but they are in Honiton and Crewkerne), no forked tail, and smaller. Wings were relatively slender. fFying quite high, it suddenly folded its wings back (like a gannet plunging into the sea) and dropped like stone downwards, really fast. Lost sight of it behind some trees but I was left wondering if it could have been a peregrine falcon. I’ve never knowingly seen one before but apparently they are around, more specifically on the undercliff are a few miles away between Lyme and Seaton .

Sounds like it could have been.

I was coming back from Tavistock last night around midnight on the A386.
On the big roundabout near Derriford Hospital were half a dozen fallow deer, antlers and all, just munching away.

One of the stags only had 3 legs, its back near side leg missing.

Female Sparrowhawk in our garden just after 17:00. The Blue Tits have claimed a Schwegler nest box about 7 metres below where she was perched - I hope they're both safe!

We had a sparrow hawk this morning, just caught something out of the corner of my whilst washing up and watched fly through the bird table and end up perched upon the garden fence preening itself for about 5 minutes until a pigeon came down and spooked it away.

No picture I'm afraid, but this afternoon I saw my first Kite this far east (about halfway between Ipswich & Felixstowe). I've seen a few a bit further inland and there's quite a few buzzards on the area, but no Kites until today.

Big bumblebee moved from patio to a daffodil.

I went badger watching last night, at a long-disused sett which has recently been re-activated. I had a great fox sighting, for at least 30 seconds at about 30m distance, plus a tawny owl and a couple of bats.......but no badgers. I shall persist.
