I had a Nuthatch on the feeder t'other day (about 10 feet away). Not seen one for a long time, it visited several times and to my knowledge has not been back.

Constant visitor to my feeders, hanging upside-down most of the time. Someone told me if you see Nuthatch you'll see Tree Creepers, too, but not in my case.

Went mountain biking yesterday evening at Haldon forest, Exeter, for a lap or two of the blue route. Halfway round when a pig stopped play. Smal wild pig, bit bigger than a pug, but same shape, mostly black with a bit of white on it. Thought at first it was a badger, by colouring, bit it was deffo a pig. No chance of a photo as it disappeared into the undergrowth smartish.

oh that is fun. do you record sound as well?

Yes. Generally nocturnal visitors are quiet, as they don't want to draw attention to themselves. Exceptions have been when badgers are mutually grooming, when they make loud "chittering" noises, and growling in the very occasional fight. Fox cubs excited when mum or dad brings food make yelping noises, but the parent, dad in particular, quietens them by forcibly grooming one of them, when they lie down silently.
This vid from last year recorded what I'm convinced is badger laughter!

Here are some stills from last night, when the dark tailed female cub expected food from mum, and got a threatening "ach!" sound and open jaws instead. The cub's response was to throw herself on the ground in a submissive gesture and look cute, which she's quite good at, but won't help her in 2 or 3 month's time when she'll have to disperse.
