A trip to Emsworthy Mire on Dartmoor this afternoon. I was hoping to see Marsh Fritillary butterfly, but to no avail.
Saw a feeding Skylark, Heath Spotted Orchid, Marsh Marigold, Heath Milkwort, Ragged Robin, Bog Bean and plenty of other bits. There was a calling cuckoo that I didn’t see.

Secured our bug hotel to the garden fence earlier.

We went for a drive earlier and ended up at Castle Ashby fishing lakes and whilst we sat on the grass overlooking the water a red kite swooped down and took a fish out of the water amazing to see , needless to say the word fisherman were not impressed.

Two robins shouting at each other in the garden all day.
Why ?

I saw a large flock of 30+ gulls soaring high up this morning . They seemed to be milling around feeding on insects , there were a couple of Swift's or House Martin's in amongst them . It is too early for flying ants .
