On my way to work yesterday saw a Barn Owl just ahead of me over the verge & followed it for a while before getting alongside & riding with it for about 50m. Normally they fly off straight away but guess this one was fully focused on hunting? Commute was earlier today, left home at 4:15 & was hoping to see more wildlife, but it was probably a little too misty today

Beautiful day for a ride up the Goyt Valley then back through Cheshire.

There were quite a few big lens photographers out in Goyt Valley. It's a well know location for Pied Flycatcher and Redstart. I stopped for a chat and they'd seen them but although I listened carefully on my ride up the valley I didn't hear any. I did get great views of a moorland specialist - Stonechat.

Near the top of the valley (this is more than 1000ft above sea level) it was most strange. Loads of singing Willow Warblers, even in unsuitable habitat like bracken-covered hillsides with a single bush. When I dropped down into Cheshire I never heard a single one. I guess they were migrating through and had set up temporary territories (they are night migrants so feed up during the day)

a 200 strong flock of starlings (?) in the middle of the day over my house. They sounded like them, looked like them, behaved like them... but the timing is really odd...
quite a few yellowhammers, loads of swallows and house martins and quite possibly some swifts as well....

Ok I heard a bird this morning and not one of the few I recognise. Basically it sounded like a squeaky wheel, making a regular eek sound, except it remained in the bushes as I went by. I realise that isn't that much to go on.

You know what @nickyboy I'm really looking forward to riding with you on Saturday and you opening my ears. No pressure there.

Deer, probably Muntjack alongside the Forty Foot drain this afternoon, a nice rural secluded spot I drive past.
One large raptor yesterday in a spot you often see him/her/them. Probably a buzzard, very light in colour from the front although they tend to be variable in plumage.

Mrs Blue Tit has been sitting on the eleven eggs for about nine days, virtually continuously, day and night. She nips out for a few minutes for a break. Mr Tit brings her a snack every once in a while but doesn't hang around. If the books are correct, the eggs will hatch within the next week. Anyway, here she is, shuffling her eggs about and getting comfortable......

Edit: It's worth turning the volume up.
