Spring comes slowly in the Peak District. Yesterday my ride spent a lot of time more than 800ft above sea level so despite the sunshine it was still quite quiet.

Chiffchaff in Millers Dale was the only one I heard on the whole ride. Plenty of ravens messing about. There were a few skylarks, meadow pipits and pied wagtails singing on the upland farms. A few nuthatches singing in the woods and a mewing buzzard that I never saw

Mrs Tit has started sleeping in the nest box. She fluffs up her feathers before settling down
She started to do that within the last week.

Beautiful day yesterday, blue skies and chilly to start with but temp up to 15 by mid afternoon, saw my first butterflies of the year. Still a few pink footed geese grazing the fields but most have gone. Lots of skylarks singing. Still yet to see my first summer migrants but now the the winds have calmed surely they can't be long.

Yep, time to start scanning the skies for the first swallow soon I think  Absolutely love this time of the year.

My little robin never returned to her babies and they have all died :sad: I didn't take a peek for a couple of days so as not to disturb her but could tell she had never been back as they hadn't moved or changed.
