Indeed. And it's actually a single enlarged tooth (hence tusk), not a horn growing out of it's forehead. And I think I remember that it tends to always be one one side and twisted one way, but I can't remember which...

I saw some narwhal tusks/skeletons in Hull's maritime museum the other week but couldn't tell you which way they were twisted...

Just looked it up on Wiki, and they say it's the left and a left helix. Apparently, some males (it's usually a male only thing) can grow the right incisor out as well, and have two tusks.

I'm glad that's sorted. Something positive to report to my supervisor in half an hour...

I think Narwhals featured in a Willard Price book. Quite possibly called "Pointy Whale Beast Adventure".

FM's link does contain bad language, that's all, and lots of Narwhals.

It does indeed have very bad language but it is also juvenile, hugely funny and packed with more Narwahls than you can shake a unicorn horn at... :evil:
