There's a fake letterbox on a pole outside a house not far from me, which I assume the house owner has his mail delivered into (as the house is quite a way from the road), it just looks a bit odd to me, like they're trying to get folks to post their mail in it!

Reminds me of a story which I hope is true from the US; some boy racer was smashing mail boxes in front of private houses. An engineer quietly rebuilt his mailbox on a girder going about a metre into a concrete filled hole; a couple of nights later there was a loud bang and the somewhat dazed driver was arrested for dangerous driving and "tampering with the mail" which apparently is a federal offence.
