I like the wedged blocks between cycleway and road: it gives a barrier free way on and off the road itself, but would certainly wake up any driver planning to sneakily hop onto the cycleway.

My Brommie on a mightily expensive suspension bridge by Cambridge services on the newish A14. It's a shared user path that I doubt gets used more than once a day!
