If you observe up & down the towns & cities of the UK, it's interesting to note how many old railings in 'posh' areas are still in place - !

True.. I also notice a lot of lead filled holes in walls where the railings used to be!
My old Edwardian house in Ramsgate was a good example of that. It had a WW2 bomb shelter dug underneath, too, with the escape tunnel re-emerging half way up next doors garden 😎
