It could be that I suppose, or related to the mines that were once here. There's another one in a similar position (in relation to the railway trackbed) further west now I come to think of it ~ found a photo of it below.

Missing a window. There's another at the other end too. Whether they were ever proper windows or just openings who knows? I suspect the latter as it's just a stone barn and is open at the right hand end. Painted in finest Raby estates white.
